4x4 lower, what to do about front shocks?

I recently removed my torsion key bolts for a lower front end. Now my old shocks are compressed and need to be replaced. My question is, do they make shocks that are like 1 or 2" shorter?

Don't bash him for doing what he wants with his truck. They make shocks in all kinds of lengths. Pull yours out and measure them compressed and then buy some that are a bit shorter. I recommend Summit Racing brand shocks.

They just look awful w/ the wheels sticking out past the fenders.

If you know what you are doing the wheels won't stick out past the fenders. Mine don't stick out at all.

How will they not stick out? Get a special back spacing on all 4 wheels and get spacers for the rear so they sit even with the fronts?

Sorry I just don't see the point in it when you can lower a 2wd lower.

Re: 4x4 lower, what to do about front shocks?

i have a 4x4 bagged and lays hump.....so i gotta back him up for trying to drop it. I used blocks in the back, pancake bumpstops in the front with torsion key bolts removed. With shocks, you have to do research with finding a shock that works with the extended height and compressed height. Use monroe website for applications. Or use drop shocks if available from belltech since they offer lowering keys for a 4x4. If you have any questions PM me

Does yours have bad camber up front? The only bagged 4wd I've seen had awful camber, not saying their all like that I'm just wondering.

Wow. How did you manage a 4/5 drop on a 4x4... thats amazing. Any problems like excessive ball joint wear?

You could do it a couple different ways. You could either run matched offsets front and rear and use spacers in the rear or you could run a slightly lower offset in the rear to set the wheels out a bit further or you could run a wider wheel in the rear than the front.

My wheels sit perfectly flush.

Drop leafs and blocks and torsion keys in the front. Only problem I have had was breaking a CV this winter but it was basically worst case scenario. 4x4 was engaged and I turned up a hill. So combination of compressing the suspension by hitting the hill and being turned full lock made it snap. CVs from Autozone have lifetime guarantee so it wasn't a big deal at all.

Other than that I haven't noticed any irregular wear at all.

Some AWD's are mostly 2wd and when they lose traction the AWD system kicks in. I'd like to have a sy/ty engine, that's about it
