I am a noob to the lowered truck scene. I have searched and I was wondering if I lowered my 96 sonoma 3in do I need to replace the shocks or will the shocks I am running work?

Re: 3in drop question?
depends how its lowered. if you use coils for the front you'll need new ones if you use drop leafs in the back you'll need to replace them also but if you go with a 2/3 and do a spindle/block combo you can get away with the stock shocks.

Re: 3in drop question?
for the front yes, think about it this way, your changing the amount of travel you have in the front. When you put in a shorter spring (drop) you are bringing the lca closer to the frame....hence less travel of the lca, that shorter distance will require a shorter shock. When you drop using spindles, you are not altering the shock, the travel of the suspension, etc, all you are doing is moving the spindle 2" up. For the rear the same idea applies, the shock is mounted on a bracket underneith the spring, putting a block in there just moves the axel up from the leaf, not changing where the shock is mounted...hope this helps
