Question On Clear Signals/ Bulbs

When instaling clear signal lenses from the factory orange lenses, do you need to change up to the painted orange bulbs to be legal or are the clear bulbs ok?

I'm asking cause my orange bulbs flaked everywhere in my lenses.

Thanks for any help.

Re: Question On Clear Signals/ Bulbs

i don't mind the orange bulbs.

my apc's started geting moisture in them out of nowhere.

i put in new lenses and didn't want to uses the bulbs i had that were flaking the orange off into the new ones.

i'm going to head out to performance improvements before they close to grab the proper bulbs.
maybe they have them in better quality.

Re: Question On Clear Signals/ Bulbs

By law you can only have white or amber coloured lights and reflectors on the front of your vehicle, white bulbs in your clear corners are legal, having blue ones is not, I ran blue ones for a while, never had any trouble, I like the look of white ones better though.

oh well there ya go, i always thought the white lights could only be your headlights on the front of your vehicle and orange had to indicate turn signals

Re: Question On Clear Signals/ Bulbs

well today i ordred a set of orange signals that are coated silver on the outside. i will pick them up on tuesday when they come in.

i like that cause in pics my orange bulbs would make it look as if i never had clears once the flash hit.

the worker at performance improvements wasn't too sure but thought the plain bulbs would get me a ticket sooner or later. and the blue for sure.

Re: Question On Clear Signals/ Bulbs

I'm running amber LEDs in my clears. 39 LEDs per bulb that keep the lens clear when they aren't lit up, but they're nice and bright when they're on.

LEDs are what I have in my Envoy headlights...You can get the SIlver coated ones that turn orange when lit or Sylvania has ones that are blue when off and orange when on (I had them on previous cars).

For clearing Noma lights, back in the oven at like 200* and pry the lense apart with a flat head screw driver and pull out the orange relfector....seal them back up with clear bathroom silicone.

I am actually running these silverstar bulbs in my truck... they give the lens a blue tint when they are off but they still light up amber... they are pretty slick.
