Getting a blazer!!

Alright guys I'm getting my dads blazer for my winter beater/DD. I know I don't have to pay taxes on it because as far as the gov knows its a "gift" between family members. my question is this. Will I still have to get an E-test and safety or is that not needed when going between family members as well? Anybody know the answer to this......

Re: Getting a blazer!!

From what I have read/been told, if ur dad is just giving it to u as a "gift" all u need to do is go in and have the ownership changed into ur name, ill be doing that as soon as winter comes bc ill be taking my fathers civic off his hands for my winter beater

Yeah....I think if you both go down to the DMV and transfer it as a gift between family members they charge a couple dollars for processing and thats it.
