Well you get the truck and well see what creation we can make, B/D no problem but you better have some wheels before you do it.
I might have that FBI 4 link sitting around if I end up with the jag rearend in mine. I'm hoping to build that 01 2 dr blazer this winter too, B/D full backhalf rear frame. But that ones a long shot.

Sorry Steve about tonight, I just had too much on the go and doing some invoicing was a must. Have to pay to play and I do alot of playing. I was just invited by some friends to go to Barrett Jackson in January, there high rollers and are getting the VIP bidder passes so that allows me to stand up near the stage. Should be exciting.

Re: edmonton and area riders

Right on, I just picked up this 88 Jag today. Its got a V12 that runs so I'm going to try to blow it up. Ended up buying it for $900, all I wanted was the interior and rearend but there is alot more that I'll end up keeping.

You have got to be looking like a used car lot out there by now, is there even any room left in that yard?

O ya there's tons of room. I have another 50 Chevy coming next Friday from Ft. Mac as well.
The garage has 2 vehicles in it, the quanset has 3 in there, there's 5 on the driveway and 4 down by the new shop on the grass, one trailer on the grass and one on the driveway. I still have lots of room, there's no vehicles inside the new shop yet, YET. I plan on getting the beams in the new shop all framed in tomorrow so I can sheet one more wall I hope this weekend and start building benches.
Just not enough hours in the day, actually not enough daylight in the day is more like it.

If you need some help stripping a vehicle for parts, let me know. I'ld be happy to help. Get a little bored in winter when there isn't enough daylight to work outside and don't want to just sit and watch TV. Always nice to learn a few new things.

Well I a have TV right in front of the hoist and once I get a little more set up, first thing is getting some of the junkers in to rip apart. If you want to get your hands dirty sure you can come over and learn/rip and tear, I'll be starting in a couple weeks.
This Jag even has my marbles turning wondering how the heck to work in that engine bay with that huge motor. We'll both be learning something from that one.
Got my wheels today and now trying to find the tires, can't beleive how hard it is to find a 175/75/14 WHITE WALL tire. Running over to Wallymart to see if they might have something, since thats where we used to find them.

Hey fellas. Figured I'd introduce myself, 02Noma you might have seen me out and about at the airport, i've been working there for a few years, drive a dark red 03 xtreme with an Off Axis Stunting sticker on the back window, it's pretty much stock, I spent a lot of money on my biking but I've decided to hang it up and can now start work on the truck. My name's Matt btw.

Re: edmonton and area riders

Wrote off my 2000 4.3L 4X4 S10 but took out the B & M short shifter and my Bushwacker street flares if anyones interested.

The truck is at Edmonton Salvage and has an FBI roll pan (unpainted) with a flip license plate holder and a hidden hitch behind it. Also has red stock calipers with Hawk pads (front barely used 6 months), E-fan, big 3 wiring and a Wait4me tuned ECU, Flowtech Afterburner muffler (1.5yrs old). Not sure where it's off to now but if anyone is interested there you go. I need to fit my children in so i'm going full size chevy in the future.

Let me know about the short shifter or street flares.

I also have a set of 4 18" Centerline Tomahawks with great rubber on them.

Another Leduc member here too. Welcome to the sight. Don't beleive I've seen your truck around but it's possible.

To bad Landrew about writing yours off. You should have bought it back and parted it out, could've probably made your money back. Any pics of the rims and rubber you have for sale? PM me.

Re: edmonton and area riders

Hey anyone in Leduc if you see a real bright light and big bang it in the next week it was me. LMAO I'm going to try and blow the motor in this Jag V12 and have no clue what the outcome is going to be. It may be New Years before you know it, lol
If you get passed by a JAG in the ditch by a white guy wearing a turbine and some bad brown face paint it might be me to, I have this funny idea to look like an arab driving across the desert but we all know there's no sand out here so I have to do the best i can with what we have.
I'm stuffing one of these 4x4 Blazer chassis under the jag for shits a giggles after I blow the motor, totally redneck I know. WTF who cares Jags are junk they just make killer rearends for hot rods.

Re: edmonton and area riders

Hey anyone know where I can get some 175/70/14 white wall tires, I need them for my Caddy. The wire wheels came in and now I'm having a hell of time finding rubber locally. I can't go with a 185, everyone has those but there too wide and they scrub the fender skirts while 3 wheelin or hopping.
Anyone that knows where to get them please me know, BTW Park I already talked to Todd at Wheels Plus he can only get 185's.

This is really the only pic I have of it, it's from 2 and a half years ago. It's got 100k on it now, not much has changed besides putting regular tail lights back into it and having the tranny rebuilt... the paint is a little beat up since i just daily drove it and is in need of some tlc come spring time to polish it back up. If I get an e-mail back from a guy on kijiji I'm going to be picking up a set of rims tomorrow for it, it'll be going 2/3, shave the tail gate, throw a solid rear window in the back instead of a slider, roll pan, some exhaust, and that'll probably do it up just fine for the time being.

Re: edmonton and area riders

Looks like I just sold one of my 97's the reg cab long box. Have a $1000 in to it and only selling it for $1200, thats all these things are worth. The body drop cab might be sold as well for another $1000, he wants that as well but I haven't decided if I want to sell it. Was thinking if I sell it then I can put the 01 Blazer body on the shortbox chassis and back half the frame.
Too many projects and some that are not worth the money to build.

Re: edmonton and area riders

Well I think I'm going to strip of all the crashed blazers, build the 2dr 01 blazer on the 97 2wd chassis. I'm going to stick to my hot rods, more value in them when there done. This 93 caddy I'm only building it to sell to some G-Boy, it's not my style but I know alot of people that like these cars.
I was under the Jag today and it's a rusted out peice of shit, pulling the rearend, leather interior, cut the roof off for the sunroof just basicly strip it down and toss it.
I'm also selling my 09 Quad (40kms on it) and 08 skidoo ( 40miles on it ), I never get to use these things so there going. I need to focus more on the salt flat car for August.

Re: edmonton and area riders

Picked up those rims last night, did a test fit this afternoon. I love it. the front is perfect, I'll probably throw a 1/2" to 3/4" spacer on the rear to kick it out a little.

Re: edmonton and area riders

Truck looks awesome, like the rims. I agree a 3/4" spacer would bring those rears out nicely. Now ya just have to take them off for the winter, those are too nice for the winter. Can't wait to see the future mods.

Very nice, color looks great there too. Very rich looking. Just trade the rims in for wider ones instead of spacing it out. My .02

Re: edmonton and area riders

Sorry just have the one longbox. BTW Matt if you don't like your TT2's in the future let me know, I wanted to buy a set for one of the rod projects. I'm putting these Arelli 22/20's on the Blazer but I can always use more rim/tire combos. Also picked up those tires on Thursday for the wire wheels, happen to find a set locally but they cost me.
The 50 Chevy from Ft. Mac arrived today, I have never got a car with so much background paperwork and manuals. What a rare deal.

I was thinking about doing that down the road, a 8" set for the rear with less backspacing would be great. Untill then I can grab a set of spacers from my buddy to see how far out I'd like to go with it. Keep in mind this is the first time i've dabbled in vehicles. Been building, and breaking motorcycles for years, so a little trial and error is to be expected when coming onto something new. I'd like to learn how to do some body work this summer. Do you guys know any good paint/body shops to go to? I will need a few items (tailgate, rollpan, front bumper) sprayed come spring.

Mike good luck on your search for TT2's. I'd been looking for a set for years. Found em on Kijiji from a guy on the North side of Edmonton. Thanks for the above comment btw. The photo was taken during a quick mock up this afternoon in the driveway. I've got a set of stock xtreme wheels with winter tires on em to get me to and from work. Hopefully it'll be the last winter this truck will go through.

You can grab one from one of the red blazers, not sure if either of them is good though. Could just hot wire them I guess and see if there noisy. I know the gold blazer I sold to the neighbor had a bum heater motor about 2 weeks after his daughter started driving it. Man that is a damn good blazer, besides the heater motor she has had no other issues. Best bet call me first, my dad is coming out to run the forklift so I can finish sheeting one of the walls in the shop. I feel bad when people come out here when my dad drives out to help me out, he also wants to see the newest project cars.

Hey Matt I have been wanting to buy a set of TT2's for about 2-3 years, I bought a set back in 2001 for a 49 chevy truck I built and only cost me $1650 with tires NEW. Wish I could get those same prices today.

Re: edmonton and area riders

Hey Ryer, I ordered a set of custom upper control arms from UB Machine today. They're not as pimp as the adjustable SC&C ones but they were only $130 for the set.

2 guys on protouringS10 designed them to work with the tall balljoints and give an "optimum" compromise in the camber curve for street/track. They're good for me since I'd probably only screw up all the adjustments on the SC&C's!

They're building them for me now - powdercoated, steel bushings, and drilled for the Howe uppers .

Sick dude! That is a killer price. Did you order up the howe's yet too? Let me know if you need a hand on the install. Always willin to help.

I have a couple progress pics of the blaze to throw up if anyone's interested. Got the core support finished and the ride height established. The thing is low, and still right in the middle of the camber curve.

Re: edmonton and area riders

Here are a few somewhat up to date pics.

With the belltech spindles and 9" wheels, clearence is a bit tight. Had to find some spherical rod ends since standard tie rods havn't a chance of fitting.

Rad/fan combo. Weighs the same as the factory setup with the rad only. Had to cut a fair bit of material out to fit everything, factory had double layer of steel throughout most of it!

Relativly soft 650 lb/in springs with adj. cups and qa1's

Ride height.

Top of fender opening is roughly 26" from ground. The lower control arms are slighlty off horizontal, but i will adjust once full weight is on. So glad I went with the adjustable cups. Will make corner weight adjustments a breeze. A small notch in the frame allows adjustment without disassembly.

I have some factory flares to go on the new sheet metal that's waiting in the shed. Fiberglass bumper, aluminum air damn/spoiler and gutted factory hood will shed a few pounds.

So damn far away from finishing, but i might be able to flange up some garage space this winter to try and get some 4 link action fired up! Engine and trans build underway. 8.8" ford waiting for some flapper wheel time aswell.

Keepin this low budget, with empahsis on performance before looks, but the bare bones racer vibe should be pretty cool.

What do you guys think?

Ty those control arms are a nice afternoon job to install. I picked up an angle finder and some material to cut out toe plates from aswell if you are interested in playing around with that.

Looks awesome! I still don't have a good understanding of how all the different alignment settings affect handling - you'll have to give me a tutorial some day over beers! I just know for sure that I need less positive camber gain under load. I tore the crap out of the outside edges of my tires last year.

What are your plans for the engine/trans?

Re: edmonton and area riders

Well, I have a M20 muncie kickin around that i'll rebuild and run untill it busts. Would love to do a tremec tko600 or even that new McLeod trans, will have to hang on a bit for that. For a mill, well, it will "look" stock. Dart block, afr heads, have done a bunch of research on a mpfi system using megasquirt and common aftermarket parts but i'll cross that road when i get there. Going to be using alot of black paint, metal layden bondo and a grinder to get it looking like a "stock" 305.

I'd love to chat with ya about geometry and alignment. Pretty easy once you see some diagrams and have a quick explination of how it all relates to the "feel" of the truck.

Re: edmonton and area riders

Why not a T56, I just happened to find one for $1200 on Kijiji in Calgary from a Viper. It didn't come with the bellhousing or pressureplate but I need to by an aftermarket to meet the approval for the salt flats anyhow. I have my eye's open for more deals like this T56 but these ads don't last long.

Re: edmonton and area riders

T56 would be rad, but like you said the adds dissapear very fast. The only ones i've stumbled on are dudes askin $3k for the trans only! Not to mention it's still a used tranny. I can buy aftermarket for a little over $2k that will handle more power albeit with one less gear. I'll rock the muncie until i grenade the poor thing. Will give me time to save up for a modern box. Speaking of which, any body know of a shop in town that carries muncie parts? haha

Hey Ry, are these the same wheels you're running (aside from the bolt pattern)?

If you could figure out a usable adapter it would be cool to have an extra pair for drag slicks or something!

Ahh damnit! They are 4 bolt. I was pretty pumped for a minute! I wouldn't be able to set up an adapter, the offset of those is right on what i need. So an adapter would put them outside the quarter panel by the same thickness. That woulda been sick though.
