Re: edmonton and area riders

the newer zq8s are hard to find in edmonton, i found 2 at an auto wrecker and they wanted 150 a peice, but i took em anyways and ordered 2 knockoffs off ebay for about 300 for 2 shipped, btw does anyone here know where i could find the mounting brackets for the sideskirts under the doors on an xtreme?

Re: edmonton and area riders

i know how you feel i've been waiting for my X kit to get painted for over a week, well yesterday i tried the trick of using spring clamps on the leafs to reduce wheel hop and it worked so awesome and it only cost me $8,now it will lay a patch 60ft long when i hop on the throttle, anyone tried these little things,so has anyone did the tb mod and stuff yet

Re: edmonton and area riders

not yet but i;m gonna do it pretty soon and what are those spring clamps you talk about i've never heard of that? all i've done is swap steering wheels to a grant one and take out the airbag led in the dash shave the gate install projector headlights and markers (black ones ) paint some interior cold air intake throttle body spacer 2/3 drop and fix carrier bearing misalignment from the drop and disable the DRL's soon to come is TB mod and maybe one piece driveshaft or disc brake upgrade in the rear

Re: edmonton and area riders

ya im going to go buy the driveshaft and brakes next week i got a good deal from a rite off blazer for the brakes and a 2003 hd chevy for the driveshaft, the spring clamps are a 2 min install and it sure helped with the wheelhop cuz i dont have the 3rd shock in the back, the tb mod is 2 min also, when i come to edmonton ill bring a shaved tb blade,so when the weather permits we all have to rip it up

not to hard, took me probly 5 hours to do everything before bodywork. but i made my own box, and it was a big pain in the ass. i would highly recomend just buying one from SD for $14, its worth it for sure.

yeah that blue second gen dime at the show was kind of hack it had a two link that when it was layed out made the wheelbase shorter and the interior was painted over the texture and it looked gross

Re: edmonton and area riders

yeah body was good or decent i should say not really powerama worthy but it looked good (only cause mine's the same color) and the two switches are for front and back it doesn't have side-side or any of that stuff the nine switch guys have

Re: edmonton and area riders

mine's also the same color and i think i have the same tail lights as well. I was there on sunday and i agree, the painted interior didn't look good. I think the blue contrasted too much with the pewter dash.

ya i smoothed out a couple interior peices and painted them, along with my fiberglass consol, it looks pretty sweet. i mostly do it on and off when i dont really have a project on the truck going, just to keep me occupied.

nah, just takes time. i did my first 2 small door peices by hand. but then i got some 80grit discs for my DA sander and went to town on the A-pillars, probly 20 mins to smooth them out with 80, then i used 180 and then filler primer. then paint and clear. probly 2hrs in each pillar start to finish, if that.

Sounds good to me. I'll see if I can make it. Hopefully I remember this time. I tried a few times last year but always forgot about it. 8 it is. If you're looking for xtreme pieces, I may know a fellow who has the whole kit he wants to sell. PM me and I'll give you his name and number.
