Re: edmonton and area riders
it'll likely have to be a custom 4-link if you're doing it for traction. lots available for "laying out" as they say but not much for performance. fat tires and traction bars FTW!
anyone know any body selling a '77-81 Trans am? I'm seriously looking for one now |

Re: edmonton and area riders
less than $3k if i can help it - it'll be a project car for sure. I may end up with an '81 turbo T/A this weekend if it looks as good in person as the seller says it is. slow and ghetto, sweet!

Re: edmonton and area riders
the turbo 301 gets a bad rep but the emissions equipment is what killed it. ditching the egr, old style cats, and under-carb fuel heater makes a world of difference. add meth injection and dial the wastegate to 12 psi and they're a totally different car. in reality all the V8's in T/A's suck after '76 anyway, the best you could get was 220hp in one of the special edition 6.6L's. the turbo still makes almost 350 ft/lbs at 2000 rpms with all the smog stuff on it - not bad for the '80's when you could buy a camaro with the iron duke in it!
I've been checking all the classifieds sites (kijiji, buysell, ebay, craigslist) and 2 different F-body forums |

Re: edmonton and area riders
I'm going to get it road worthy first then do some body work when it warms up, the passenger 1/4 and door have some spots but the rest is solid. Tires, battery (i think), exhaust, and windshield should get it on the road. Obviously I'll change all the fluids and give it a good tune up too. The interior is like new and it only has 71000kms on it.
It only costs $100/year to insure it with full coverage which is sweet. can anyone in town recommend a towing company? i need to get it moved from Fort Saskatchewon to South Edmonton. |

Re: edmonton and area riders
I got it home on a flat deck this morning - it wasn't cheap but it was worth the extra coin for the piece of mind. after some checking and fluid top-ups it fired right up! it sounds great with no exhaust too, I won't be putting mufflers back on it ![]() |

Has anyone changed an engine mount on their 4.3? Is it as much of a PITA as I think it may be?

Re: edmonton and area riders
pretty sure it's the driver's side - it was vibrating before I took the s/c off and the fan hit the shroud during a dyno run. I'm going to pick up a urethane mount and try to change it before spring

If anyone who still has a 4.3 is interested the Y-pipe group buy has actually gone through for '98+ trucks. I'll be ordering one whenever they're ready next week and can save some shipping if anyone else wants one. |
