Re: edmonton and area riders

yeah, got it but my batteries were dead so I couldn't text you back. It seems to be holding up fine. The major cracks on the bottom are reinforced with fiberglass but some of the smaller ones aren't and they're still ok. I held onto my old bumper just in case something let go.

Re: edmonton and area riders

Cool. What stuff did you use?

Some dickwad lost his jerry can on the highway right infront of me and despite evasive menouvers I still plowed it. Demolished the bumper. To boot the guy didn't have plates on his fifth wheel so I'm SOL on this.

Re: edmonton and area riders

Man, that sucks! I used a Bondo brand bumper repair epoxy kit. It's a 2-part epoxy that comes out black when you mix them. On its own it wouldn't hold together the bigger cracks, they'd split whenever I handled it because it's so flexible.

That flaming river U-joint came in today. Does the lower part of the steering shaft slide right out of the upper part? I've had it off of the steering box end a bunch of times but have never actually taken it out of the truck.

Yes it does, there is a half moon style key that will fall out when you pull the two apart.

Thanks man! The key stayed in place when I pulled them apart - there was a tonne of grease on it and that probably held it in.

bye bye rag-joint

Re: edmonton and area riders

Looks good Ty. Did you notice if it moved the shaft at all in relation to the manifold? How are the "vibrations" that everyone complains about?

Re: edmonton and area riders

I didn't notice any new vibrations at all - it's exactly the same as before in that respect except now it feels more connected and solid. I didn't check to see if it changed the location in relation to the manifold. Want me to take some measurements?

Re: edmonton and area riders

I picked up a new set of edelbrock TES headers and y-pipe. They're ceramic coated and listed to fit a '96-97 4WD. I know they won't fit a 2wd but they should fit any 2nd gen 4WD (don't know about air-injection though).

http://www.summitracing.com/parts/EDL-67093/

Let me know if anyone is interested - I got them cheap and if any of you guys want them you can have them for what I paid. Otherwise I'll list them on kijiji and make a few bucks!

Re: edmonton and area riders

I'm rockin some JBA 4x4 headers now and they slightly rub on the steering shaft. ****ing brutal on cold mornings, get my frozen hands a shook apart. I think that the TES system could fit a 2wd with some forcefull modifications. How much did you pay for them?

Re: edmonton and area riders

They were $150 shipped. From what I've seen I should be able to make at least $100 reselling them.

If I do headers I'll just find a set of shorties that will bolt up to the SLP y-pipe rather than redoing my exhaust again. They'd mostly be for weight savings and looks anyway, I'm not going to gain much on a stock engine if I already have a decent y-pipe.

Re: edmonton and area riders

Was someone looking for a floor-shift console?

http://edmonton.kijiji.ca/c-cars-veh...AdIdZ166197874

I emailed the guy and he wants $60 for the whole assembly but you could probably talk him down. Looks to be in good shape.

Pretty quiet in here - what's everyone up to these days?

Re: edmonton and area riders

Just got back from Sema, the show wasn't as good as past years but still seen lots. Met Jim Krammer the creator of BigFoot as met a couple other big names but nothing like the past. 232 pictures total but I'm not about to try and post all them, I'll post some when I feel a bit better. Was drunk 4 outta 5 days and ended up under the weather yesterday.

Its funny my buddy bought the newest Truckin magazine and that semi truck was in there. He was so into the article while we were flying down there and then to boot we see it in person. The West Coast Customs section was pretty wild, all the tv built cars were there.

Very true, only other show that beats out Sema that I have been to was the Spokane Goodguys show in August and the Lowrider show in Vegas a couple years back 3 weeks before Sema. Our shows around here are more budget minded, in order to make something worthy for Sema you need some deep pockets and sponsors.

Re: edmonton and area riders

I'd feel like shit if I was the guy at Sema with the 2dr flat black 300c next to the pair of Bigfoot's, he most likely worked his ass off building it just to make the show and because of where he was placed he didn't get bugger all for attention. I know it wasn't the best work done but around here people would be checking it out at least.

Re: edmonton and area riders

Well I should have the hoist up in the new shop by the weekend I hope and some of the tools moved over. Still so much to do, sheet the walls and build the mez. But I have to start building again. Have one project I have to get started soon so I can take it in for paint, my 93 caddy. The 14" wirewheels should be here in a the next week and the hydro kit has been sitting her for a while just waiting to go in, have to lift the body off the frame to wrap the frame in 1/4" steel and assembly the works for paint. Then it's get back on to project Draginass. So much to do and not enough time in the day, winter is around the corner and thats my best production time.
Hoping to have 4 vehicles ready for Three Hills this year.

Re: edmonton and area riders

You bet I'll be ready for ya in the new year, parts look great. That must a set ya back a bit of $$$. I bought the AVS deal and thought that was pricey enough, actually going to start to manufacture a-arms, rear 4-links, bolt in c-notches once I'm all set up here. I'm going to stock air ride and hydro kits along with wire wheels. The hoist is getting set up tomorrow by the looks of things. Just talked to my painter and I guess were bringing in a guy from California to do the custom old school paint on the Caddy.

Sounds like my rear 4-link from FBI. A guy in Edmonton bought it for his truck then found out they were expecting a little one so he gave up on his truck. I was searching Kijiji and found this guy selling the complete kit for $600 and ended up taking it home for $400, they list it on there website at the time for $799US + ship and duties it was a smokin deal.

Hey Park you wouldn't happen to be buddies with Shane with the Green B/D Blazer which is a Severed Ties member as well. If it is you I just happen to notice you on Todd's "Wheels Plus" (facebook) and Shanes Blazer is next to your s10 I'm guessing. Small world, you most likely know Rob Hogan and a bunch of the dropcycles. I go back along time with the mini truck group in Edmonton.

Yeah, that's me. Shane is a close friend of mine. I'm friends with a few Dropsicles guys and know most of the rest of them to see them. I know Rob Hogan, he's part of the Edmonton Severed chapter along with Shane and I.

Right on, I've known Hogey for long time and met shane not too long ago. He was working with Todd at the tire warehouse but it turns out I ran into him on Freemont street with Hogey the year before during Sema. Well if your ride is out this next summer we may meet up then, my b/d will be on the road for three hills. There is already a group of us headed down with our hydro cars.

Here's a better picture of the one you saw on FB, the pictures do absolutely no justice to his Blazer. The thing is insane. I'm going to try and get mine on the road for next year but I tried to get it on the road for his year also and didn't make it. We'll see I have a lot of work left to do.

Re: edmonton and area riders

Shane just got it painted last spring as I recall. When I talked to him last at Tire Warehouse it was just getting out of the paint booth. I showed Todd and Shane the color I was going to paint my truck, it was almost the exact same color as his Blazer. I said i was going coolant green and thats almost the same. I like the dash work done to his blazer.
So is that his garage then, since I see the Caddy in back.

So when am I going to see it and where you getting the bags from ? KMS Tools brings in cheap bags even the 14" lift bags as well. Also did you get hit by a ammored truck ??? LMAO I know funds are tight for ya.
When do you plan to get started, I bought another 50 Chevy and it's being delivered on the 27th. Building this one to do 200MPH + it's going to the salt flats in Utah. Starting out with a 5" chop on the roof, full roll cage, complete chassis rebuild and haven't figured out the motor yet but it might be the one on the pallet in my quanset.
Draginass is on the list to complete this winter as well, motor will be arriving on the 27th as well for that truck. Hoist was installed on Friday and satelite is getting hooked up tomorrow, still have to sheet 2 walls and start moving in equiptment. Hoping Dec 1 to start building some cars in the new shop.

Re: edmonton and area riders

I have to change out the rear gears in the 52 as well, 8200 PRMS and topping out at around 180kmph is not good enough. Swap out the 4.11 to some 3.08's so I can drive it on the highway with ease, it's got more then enough power to get up and go with the 3.08's and if I need that little bit more I always have that bottle in the trunk.
I still gotta take ya for a burn in that thing in the spring.

That is a beautiful workshop you have there, would love to stop by sometime and talk trucks for a while. Hopefully you can get the ride drivable this year.
Mike, I need to come out there again soon and have another look at your new shed, it's been a while, I'll give ya a call.

Re: edmonton and area riders

So whats it take to join ? I think I have enough rides worthy enough. lol I just got off the phone with Dave Barkley, I guess Shane brought over some truck for some work in the last week or so. I asked Dave if he knew you, and of course.
Have to run over there and wire his new hoist tomorrow, he can't seem to find an electrician.

Re: edmonton and area riders

Another B/D for the winter, just got the call from a friend with an 01 extended cab s/10. I just bought a Jag for the IRS and just yanked an IRS from a 90 T-Bird so it looks like I'll be doing some rear frames over the winter as well. Should be an interesting winter once I get the walls finished and start building some rides. So much to do and busy as hell with my other business is making it hard to get everything done here.
G2G out here first thing this spring but we could also have the odd safety meetings over the winter.
