Re: Turbo?

You will have to do something with the fueling system. Probably not a bolt on either.

Re: Turbo?

Year? What motor is it? Non vortec so it is a tbi? How do you plan on fueling it? How do you plan on controling it? How fast do you want to go?

There is a bolt on supercharger for the tbi trucks, just thought i would let you know, a lot less work, and it has customer support.

98, 4.3L, TBI, Not sure on how I should fuel it, Not sure on controlling it, and fast enough to eat the rice burners that swarm New York. I'm new to the hobby so bare with me, any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

I will have pictures real soon. the reason I'm selling is because I decided to build a 4.3 stroker nitrous motor. Like I said the parts are in good condition, just need extra change for nitrous parts. I also have a hypertech for a 2000-up 4.3L I'm only asking $250.00 great chip just don't need it.

You don't have a tbi, you have multiport injection. Edit: you have a vortec motor also

Your injectors are not easily upgradeable(stock is 19lbs/hr, but they run at 60psi). The only way to really get more fuel out of them is with an fmu or something. The best option would be a marine intake manifold, or a converted edelbrock 2114.

You do know those won't bolt to your '98 right? Not to mention that intake manifold probably requires a fuel rail, injectors, and a custom tune to get to work right. The stock emmissions stuff won't bolt to it probably either.

Re: Turbo?

..as for the fuel rail, I will sell that. The TBI is available, along with the intercooler and plumbing. The lower intake manifold would have to be drilled and rewelded to match your VORTEC heads. I have PM'ed you more info. If you wish, you can call me at the phone number I PM'ed you.

You seem to be very educated, what do you recommend to do in the turbo field? I really appreciate all your info.
Thanks,
Gavin

Re: Turbo?

as of now there arent any ''bolt on'' turbo kits (excluding mach performance, But dont buy anything from mach) the bigest problem , assuming you are somewhat knowlegable about fabbing the exhaust required, will be the fuel system.Which unfortunately is notoriously lacking. An FMU is the best way to combat that, along with a healthy fuel pump upgrade, something like a Walbro 210.
but if you aare determined enough, and have the funds, it can be done. And if I were going that rought i would go with something like a 62-1 set around 8psi, for stock bottom ends, and use a water to air i/c. with a FMU and TunerCat or F.A.S.T.

Re: Turbo?

I am selling the entire top-end of my Typhoon. It is all going to be different, sofrom the heads up is being sold here very shortly. Going this route, you can get away from the FMU and use a real AFPR. Other than having to upgrade to a Walbro 255LPH fuel pump, you would have a Typhoon / Syclone. Keep your eyes peeled in the classifieds here for my stuff for sale soon!

Re: Turbo?

i was thinking about rigging up a turbo on my 88 s10 4.3 tbi, i wouldnt need TOO much boost, so it thought maybe getting a turbo off an old talon, or sunfire gt or subaru or something along those lines, would it be worth the time? i think i could manage to do the plumbing myself, would the fuel upgrades and whatever upgrades the injection system would need be expensive? worth my time?
