You don't switch formats. You buy a def file, then you can change the tune on the years that you bought the file for, and up load them to the pcm. You want to modify the stock program that you download from the ecm. The instructions aren't that good either, they tell you how to up load and download from the ecm and how to load the programs onto your computer and that is about it.

Re: TunerCat Programmer Available....

Anyone using a MAF from the following list?

6.0L Truck
5.3L Truck
2002 ZL1 Truck
2001 Vette Z06
2002 Vette Z06
2004 Holden Monaro
1998 Fbody
99-00 Fbody
2002 Fbody

I have the the stock values in an excel file if anyone wants to switch to a different MAF. The stock values might work just fine, or a small amount of tweaking might be needed depending on which sensor that you use. If you want the excel file send me a PM with your e-mail address.

Removing or reducing torque management means that the computer doesn't pull timing durring shifts. It pulls timing to protect the trans. I think mine is reduced to half right now, in the upper 4500+rpm range only.

It is probably slightly different from year to year, but you do have a ton of control over the trans. You can change the shift firmnes, the desired time for the trans to make the shift, converter lockups, shift points, wot and part throttle, probably a few other parameters that i missed

Re: TunerCat Programmer Available....

From two dyno tuners that I have recommended this program to for tuning some older gm trucks say that it is one of the hardest programs to use. Lots of time to get use too and hours on a dyno. But I am still going to get it....

Summit is suppose to start shipping Jet Tuner this week for $364.99 It's jets locked version of Tuner Cat but it's better than paying full tilt to Jet

http://store.summitracing.com/partde...5&view= 1&N=0

Their site claims July 11th, but the guys on one of the other forums say this week, since Jet finally released it.

i have not seen other tuners. but i would say this program is not for beginners. the main problem = pretty much NO support. i'm searching the web trying to find out what some of the terms mean, and i'm not finding anything worth a damn.

if all you want is to change gear ratio, shift points, tire size, turn off some codes, and things like that. then its pretty good. otherwise, good luck learning how to use it.

Re: TunerCat Programmer Available....

There is quite a bit of information here, especialy in their stickies:
http://www.ls1tech.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=7
http://www.hptuners.com/forum/
http://forum.efilive.com/

While a lot of that applies to ls1's, many of the concepts/terms relate to our ecm's.

Yes, but they sold the rights to jet, and hp tuners, and efi live are better for your year.

Sure, the jet program will work, as well as efi live, and hp tuners.

could make it worse, if you don't know what your doing. but, if your smart, you will do a read and burn that on a disc. so you could at least go back to where you started.

Re: TunerCat Programmer Available....

I am kind of in a bind. And this is the software we are using so I figured to post it here. Getting ready for spring, (5 feet of snow here) I am going to be helping tune a 97 blazer with charger and mild cam. We are using Jet program and need something to datalog with. I have tried my mxscan but the 97 pcm tab doesn't work in the program. Contacted James and says not supported yet.
We have tried autotap but it is live data or graph recorded data to use. What I am looking for is something that will make a chart that I can work with instead of having to write down each log by hand and end up screwing up the data.
What are you guys suggest as a program to datalog with?
Thanx in advance

Re: TunerCat Programmer Available....

Pcmscan works ok, and allows for logging a wideband(aem, or innovative). www.palmerperformance.com

Westers garage has a version of pcmscan that uses the tuner cat hardware, and my guess is that it is a bit faster than the normal version.

Neither have enhanced parameters though.

Both will do graphing. I personaly don't really see the need for the graphs though. I usualy use excell to make whatever graphs i need to modify the tune.

This is what I am saying. I am not looking for the graph view datalog. What I am looking for is something that I can cut and paste the values into excel sheets that you provided me with. They seem to work with a little other tuning. The problem with the pcmscan is I have to go in, look at a graph with a ruler and record the values by hand. Very time consuming and subject to error. Anything else out there that might do what I am looking for? Just like mxscan.

Re: TunerCat Programmer Available....

You can export to csv with any of the scanners, pcmscan, autotap, etc. Pcmscan it is just a button you click on the bottom, then you select what you want your columns to be, select a name, and you have your values in table format. I am guessing auto tap would allow you to do it through the file menu. Something to the effect of export to csv.
