Re: s10ls's new turbo/mpfi/bowtie head project
I think it is a tossup between the piston and the rods, but I think it will go for a while yet. That thing will be crazy at 30+ PSI. I'll drive all the way down there to take a ride in it.
Maybe you will get a cool one and split the whole block in half like my friends 5.0 mustang Last edited by King_Ice_Flash2 : 02-14-2008 at 09:40 PM. |

Re: s10ls's new turbo/mpfi/bowtie head project
Has anyone on the forum pushed it that far yet? I've only heard about premature breaks, going lean/detonation or something.

Re: s10ls's new turbo/mpfi/bowtie head project
thanks for the offer rob, if some other options i have already looked into fall through i'll let you know
so i added 8 degrees of timing to my entire spark map today and it definitely feels stronger than ever, and it took it like a champ, meaning it didnt blow up lol. i'm now in the 30 degrees advance range at 20psi. i think i'm gonna advance it more tomorrow |

Re: s10ls's new turbo/mpfi/bowtie head project
interesting, when we ran any more than 21 degrees timing she was far from knocking but i lost a lot of power. 20 degrees steady from 4400 to redline made the best power for my setup. From my tuning books peak advance is supposed to be at peak torque

Re: s10ls's new turbo/mpfi/bowtie head project
30 degree's.. thats getting impressive, you should get it dyno'ed just so you know...
Also i'm amost finished with the front core support, rad is going to stay in the stock location etc shouldn't be able to tell its there. Might actually lower the truck another inch later with the intercooler not hanging down infront. Also the family i've got headin south is driving but its 4 people in a impala so were screwed again. current list till finished Finish welding core support and run new charge pipes Install new turbo Possibly new downpipe and exhaust Install fuel cell, fuel lines, pump, regulator finsh taking out old harnes (whatever is needed) Install new harness and ecm (cake) Turn key and pray to god Parts i still need.. I need a AC delete pully, Non AC heater core box 3 bar GM map -12, -10, -8 lines -12 fuel filter Conversion harness for the Ls1 throttle body, and HEI small pin convert Later i'll need a 4l80E core trans.. That sums it up for the most part |

Re: s10ls's new turbo/mpfi/bowtie head project
stock block stock crank eagle H Beam rods wiseco forged low comp pistons ARP main studs ARP head studs ARP just about every where else i'll only rev it to 5500 or so. i believe in the school of thought that you dont need lots of rpm to make big power. |

Re: s10ls's new turbo/mpfi/bowtie head project
Is the gasket area the same from the 2003 as the heads you have? I could probably throw one of the gaskets in my scanner, trace it from Corel Draw and export it for you.
Otherwise, just put some ink on the exhaust ports of the head and slap it down on a piece of paper, or press it on paper on a table placemat or something and color over the edges so it shows the crease. Man, I wish our Co2 laser would cut 1/4 inch steel, just imagine all the cool stuff I could make. How many watts is it? We can only cut 1/4 plywood and thinner, but engraving anodized aluminum with it looks sweet! Sorry if the post is illegible, I'm on my 4'th margarita (12 oz glass). Last night in CO! Re: s10ls's new turbo/mpfi/bowtie head project
ur doing good for 4 margaritas
I would think the second idea to be good, tracing the gaskets has too many flaws with port matching and bolt holes lining up. Whenever i needed to trace i would tape the paper down firmly so it doesn't move and then i would rub my thumb across and it would trace everything beautifully. Small amount of dirt on my thumb would act like a pencil. If that makes sense. As well as sending the traced paper i would take a caliper and measure the exhaust bolt holes and from those two Cad shouldn't be too bad. |

If anyone else may need some of these flanges made, let me know and I'll run a few extra sets. Price would be around $20 + shipping.

Re: s10ls's new turbo/mpfi/bowtie head project
you can cut me T4 flange while your at it
seriously though i will need one eventually, but with two extra bolt holes so i can bolt it to a bracket welded to the frame. Last edited by s10ls : 03-04-2008 at 05:32 PM. |

Re: s10ls's new turbo/mpfi/bowtie head project
![]() that is the dimensions of a t4 flange. i would need it to be about an inch longer on either the right or left side with two more bolt holes i want to weld a bracket right to the frame or bolt a bracket to the motor where ever i decide to put the turbo, bolt the t4 flange to the bracket with the extra holes then i'll run my headers to the flange. it will be a frame mounted (or engine) turbo with solid motor mounts and a few flex joints. the point is to support the turbo so the headers arent. a 45lb turbo will crack any header lol another pic of an example, except the extra holes in the side, not the bottom like this one: http://www.theturboforums.com/smf/in...=90 177;image |
