Re: s10ls's new turbo/mpfi/bowtie head project
i think i'm going to make these headers to use a big t4 single turbo but use v-bands on each manifold so i can make twin attachements easily and not have to fabricate a whole new set of manifolds |

Re: s10ls's new turbo/mpfi/bowtie head project
The big hold up now is the cam. Campbell Automotive just shipped my custom grind today. They are in Canada so I am not sure how long it will take to get here. I am pushing the end of November now. I am hoping before LNO. Those pics are sweet. Doesnt look like it would tuck under a stock hood though. I cant wait to see what this motor can do. Crank up the boost a little more and we will find out soon enough ![]() |

Re: s10ls's new turbo/mpfi/bowtie head project
i guess i should update, i'm running 19 psi now on a stock 94 z code short block and she handles it like a champ. i think i may go up to 22 psi soon
on another note i need some motivation to stick with my current project. i have been having serious thoughts of going with an iron block lq9 with l92 heads and a turbo but dont want to abandon this project as i'm sure it will be capable of 600hp i'm sure i'll end up seeing my current project to completion but it will likely be my last venture into 4.3's |

Re: s10ls's new turbo/mpfi/bowtie head project
yaaa,.. I made the same confession awhile back.. first time my 4.3L needs "major work.. err money" its probably gone and i'll be picking up a Lq4...(lq9's are to high compression for turbo stuff really.. already deep into the 10:1's). As for heads... l92's.. good good ported 317's, patroit.. its all 300+ CFM at .600L.
Were building a heads and cam Lq9 for our 55 pickup that should put down 375-400RWHP N/A.. And the Lq4 were putting in the stock floor body drop crew cab will see a turbo next year and probably put down 500+ RWHP on nice fat turbo. The only crazy thing is hanging out with the big kids on the full size LS1 trucks they all agree 500-600RWHP NA or boosted is stoping point for SAFE builds on stock engines.. Well $hit.. a decent 4.3L that cost about 2G to build can handle 500-600RWHP day in and out.. A good good built 408 Stroker cost about 4-5G to build and will easily put down 500RWHP N/A though. however once i get this custom harness done, new ecm.. all this crap for a 4.3L done i'll probably be handcuffed to 4.3L's for ever, which don't get me wrong.. weight to hp, size etc,, not complaints there. Jesse i think i'm going to need a A1000 fuel pump and all that fun stuff.. know anyone anywhere selling the stuff cheap.. looks like about 275 for one is the best i can do. |

Re: s10ls's new turbo/mpfi/bowtie head project
I know, i made it.. Hardest part was making sure the size was correct for displacement based on two engineering books and my engine builder(s) specs ... Oh, and thats .25" aluminum on those sweeping bends without damaging it so polishing it would be a pain in the a** later.
took about one afternoon, in a shop with the right tools to work on that thick of media all MIG welded then it was taken to another shop who TIG welded all the MIG welds and then about 2 hours in the machine shop for them to machine all the mounting surfaces flat and hcoil the mounting points for LSX throttle body, throttle cables, etc etc,.. Total Cost.. Under 100 dollars. Total 2114 mpfi intake/plenum roughly 500 bucks flows enough air to heat a small house. |

Re: s10ls's new turbo/mpfi/bowtie head project
i'll be seeing this project through to completion. i'm already balls deep into it, i got the built short block with a cam, the alum heads with all the machine work and valve train just needs to be assembled, and the intake which i am close to finishing but havent work on in a while. all i need to do is put it all together and start on the exhaust manifolds.
as for an lq4 i'd have to do some research to see if my holley commander can control the coil-on-plug setup of the lsx motors. an lsx would be awesome but i would still consider going sbc and it would be plug and play with my ecu |

So true. If you want to blow it up. Go to ur map and select all and -15 out of the fuel and go out. |

Re: s10ls's new turbo/mpfi/bowtie head project
i dont want to go out and do something with the sole purpose of blowing it up. i want it to die, but not from unnatural causes. |
