Check the wiring on the mach pump. As long as you are not in boost you don't need it to start the truck it might be mesing with you.

Re: Project "TURBONOMA" begins

Yeah,, when you get a chance definetly get rid of the secondary pump hook up. The walbro 255 intank will serve all your needs. Did you run a regulator on the 2114 setup? If so check that as well. If not, get one.. haha. Glad to hear you got that truck going. Do you still plan on having TJ tune it for you??

He is running the stock intake to start with for now.

I don't think he would have had enough of a cal to even get it started with the 2114. I am working on some stuff for him when he gets it out for a while hes swapping turbos and the intake out.

Re: Project "TURBONOMA" begins

did you wire in the extra pump "after" you tore it down for the current mods ? i will check my diagrams. but i recall seeing a "prime" wire, and a "feed" wire going to the fuel pump. perhaps you have it connected to the prime wire. this will shut it off after a few secs.

The pumps were working before I began the teardown. When I had the Pdyne installed ,I decided to get the fmu and inline fuel pump from Mach. I did remove the stock pump out to get rid of the old gas that was in the tank before trying to start it. My problem should be related(maybe)with the stock pump. Man, I'm so close. PEACE>Tony

Re: Project "TURBONOMA" update

Turns out the intank pump took a crap! Should have tried to fire it up when I had the bed off.
Don't know whether to remove the bed or take the tank down. It's half full. Can anybody tell
me which walbro pump to get and where's the cheapest place to buy it? PEACE>Tony
Oh and btw the engine runs strong. I'll be getting a video soon.

Re: Project "TURBONOMA" begins

Theres two plugs on top of the pump. The square one has 4 wires going to it. @ for the pump and 2 for the fuel gauge. The gray wire is power. Check there and make sure you are getting it. Check it by sticking the volt meter prong in the clip, not my poking through the insulation on the wire. I checked the wire and seen voltage so assumed i had it in the clip, but what happened is when i pulled it off i must off broke a little piece of the clip off and it wasn't touching good enough.

Ok, I'll check that out. What I don't understand is why it turns over as if it has a weak battery. I had gotten it to start with the inline pump. Once I discovered that the intank pump was bad I unhooked the taillight harness, removed the bed and took out the inline pump. Ah man this is driving me nuts So close and yet so far. PEACE>Tony

Re: Project "TURBONOMA" begins

Did you jumper the pump directly to a battery, making sure it will work given proper voltage? If it does then try jumping the starter. Then measure voltage drop while cranking.

Sounds like you're approaching the whole truck at once. Look at each piece one at a time, avoid frustration and confusion.

Re: Project "TURBONOMA" begins

exactly. check for a voltage drop, you may need to run some bigger cables as well as a few more grounds. I beleive a member on here was having a similar problem and did just that and it works fine.

i had this problem with my truck when i relocated the battery to the bed. i had to run a single 0 gauge main power feed from the battery, and three 8 gauge ground wires from the battery, two to the engine block and one to the frame. solved any weak starter/clicking issues i had

Yes I hotwired the pump while in the tank and it works. I guess I'm so anxious to get it running that frustration blinds me. PEACE>Tony

My problem now is that it cranks over as if on a weak battery.I have the relocation kit with one ground wire connected to the rear frame rail and the front wire coming off the front frame rail to the engine block. What I don't get is when I first went to start it up, it worked with the inline pump. ?????????help.PEACE>Tony

Re: Project "TURBONOMA" begins

Get some jumpers so you can read voltage at the starter while trying to crank. My money is it being something simple once it's found. Nothing to be upset over for sure. You've had so much apart that a gremlin is just part of the game...

One peice at a time.

Re: Project "TURBONOMA" begins

May have found the culprit. Took the starter to my local auto parts. Tests revealed it was cranking out too many amps(150)and would heat up. Parts guy said that causes the weak cranking syndrom.Bought a new one and hope to install it tomorrow. Still recovering from the weekend with the grandkids plus a swell sunburn. PEACE>Tony

It's running guys! Just needed the fuel pump, starter and finally a new battery. My neighbor brought over his battery charger and that's how we got it started. Stuff turns to crap after laying around for so long. The ecu is on a learning curve till it smooths out. Finally!!!!!
I'll get some vids asap. PEACE>Tony

Re: Project "TURBONOMA" begins

Lol ha ha. I fired it up today with the new battery. Idles rough and I have to feather it to keep it from dying. Efans aren't working and it got hot real fast. Afr reads like 18.8 and my fp says it's
38lbs. Tried to put it in gear and nada. Hope it's not the torque converter. Still have quite a few issues but I'm motivated again.
