Re: Powerdyne question
Yes - You may or may not have to swap to an alternator from a '96-99 truck but that should be it.

Re: Powerdyne question
Fine now that I'm back running the stock sized pulley. Prepare to do lots of rebuilds if you try to run a smaller pulley!

Re: Powerdyne question
i've had a small pulley running 9+ psi for years now and had my s/c from maybe 2001 with no rebuilds but i'm not gunning it all the time.
i have to admit that every time i do gun it i squint hoping nothing with blow. it'd be nice not to worry. when it does i will do the 928 motorsports powerdyne rebuild. the powerdyne may not be the best but stock sucks, i could never settle with that lol. if i saw an ati s/c kit somewhere for sale i'd love to grab one of those being intercooled and all. |

Re: Powerdyne question
The 928 rebuilds are better than stock but they're not the magic bullet that they advertise them to be. I wrecked a "super powerdyne" rebuild ($1300+) in 300 miles of normal driving running a 2.75" pulley. The engine never went above 4000 rpms the entire time and it still fried the bearings. 928ms took care of me but it was still a kick in the nuts.
I backed down to a 2.93" pulley now (~8 psi) - it was a significant drop in power but hopefully it'll last this time. I've never had the belt shredding problems that alot of others have had though, even with 2 headunit failures. |
