Thumbs up NOSNOMA takes a V6, N2O and get's it done at the track!!

I was at test and tune last night in preparation for today's street car shootout. I made 4 passes and am ultra happy with the results.
Setup currently is 125 shot, VP ms109 racegas, and drag radials.

pass 1
rt:0.142
60:1.970
330:5.507
660:8.514
mph:81.74
990:11.041
1320:13.319
mph:102.07
Off the trailer was a pretty decent pass. I spun out of the hole as you can see by the 1.9 60'.

pass 2
rt:0.081
60:1.866
330:5.393
660:8.419
mph:81.14
990:10.975
1320:13.286
mph:100.49
Was more happy with this pass, put a little more heat in the tires in the burnout but it still spun out of the hole.

pass 3
rt:-0.078
60:1.851
330:5.367
660:8.363
mph:82.04
990:10.884
1320:13.159
mph:102.18
WOOOOHOOO new personal best and I still spun. So I decide to let a pound of air out of the drag radials for the last pass of the night.

pass 4
rt:0.096
60:1.736
330:5.249
660:8.267
mph:81.34
990:10.813
1320:13.117
mph:100.58
Finally hooked up my junk and she ran it hard out the backdoor. Feels good to beat my personal best by over a tenth. It's getting so close to the 12's. I am so tempted to put a cam in it and just get a 12. But, I think I can do it on all the stock internals. I guess we will see

Re: NOSNOMA takes a V6, N2O and get's it done at the track!!

you just need to take a healthy dump just before hopping in the truck and make sure you don't over-fill the gas tank, throw the passenger seat, the tailgate and your CD collection in the trailer and I bet you nail a 12.

I think that has a lot to do with the stock cam. Just no topend from it.

The 4000 stall is pretty loose when it's n/a. It drives fine on the street but you can tell it has a big stall. With the juice its a way different story

those are some bad ass times for a basically stock 4.3. not hatin by any means, but i do believe w/ a smaller stall u'd be a bit faster than u are now

I might have to agree on that stall, id have to say its hurting you with a stock cam. Wanna trade?

Now you are just being sneaky. You may be forgetting 1 thing. A converter built to be a 4000 stall for a v8 ends up only being a 3200 stall for a v6. So its the perfect stall

Re: NOSNOMA takes a V6, N2O and get's it done at the track!!

but how about a V6 on spray???
would likely be closer to the V8 rated stall then.
judging by your 60ft's, and traction issues on DR's,
i would imagine you spray right after launch..

oh, BTW, congrats on the new E.T.'s...

Nitrous comes on at 3000rpm the converter flashes to 3200rpm and that its hang on time. On the street n/a it only flashes to about 2600rpm with out the juice. So the converter is working pretty good imo.

Who built your converter? Thats how I got screwed with mine, turned out to be a 3300 N/A stall, not the 2600 I ordered.

I think my sweet area is 3200-3600, mine tapers off around 4400-4500, stock cam. The spray extends the power band but still feels great 3400-3800 spraying.

My truck makes max hp at 4800rpm on the spray so the converter has a shift extension to 4500rpm so it keeps me right in my sweet spot in all the gears.

thats not so bad then. still, a slightly lower stall might help with
your traction issues, either that, or a softer nitrous hit, if it only
breaks loose after you hit the bottle.
could make your truck more consistent.

I am not sure why a 1.7 60ft would be equal to traction issues???

Are you saying I should have a 1.6 60ft or better??

Re: NOSNOMA takes a V6, N2O and get's it done at the track!!

1.7 60 is good. Need a cam to get the RPMs a little higher. To get the shift point around 5200 5300 RPMs. How high will the converter let you leave if you foot brake. If its a 4000 converter not sure hows yours it set up, but a 2500 2600 launch if the cam pushes hard sound right.

What cam are you running?

My stock cam peaks around 4400, but is damn flat from 3900-4600.

Nitto 555rs are a little different than MT DRs, I think you could probably cut harder 60s on real DRs

I'm running custom grind from comp cams. 592 lift on intake at 268 duration and 603 lift on exhaust at 277 duration hydraulic race flat tappet. My cam range is 3000 to 7500 RPMs. Not computer friendly. Depending on the track conditions I can leave off foot brake right around 4200 RPMs. That's with a TS5500 stall 8inch converter.

no, your 60ft. is exellent, especially for your E.T.
but it sounded like traction was an issue
on many of your passes?
perhaps it track prep?

Ahhhh....I see what you are saying. The issue was I was trying more air in the tires cause everyone says dr's need more air. I tried a few passes iit didn't work so I went to the air pressure I know works and it started hooking good for the last few runs.

Re: NOSNOMA takes a V6, N2O and get's it done at the track!!

wow, thats pretty low.
what pressure were you trying out before
going back to this?

i run 22-24 psi in my rear tires every day.
they hook and ride better at this pressure
than at 29-30 i used to run in them...
my truck typically has just over 1300 lbs.
on the rear wheels when unloaded.

i only air them up if i'm going to be carrying
a load in my truck.

I was trying it at 17 and 16.5lbs. Just 2lbs made a difference. On the street I run 26lbs.

Re: NOSNOMA takes a V6, N2O and get's it done at the track!!

I've run my DR's as low as 16lbs to get them to hook. That is flat out moving for a stock internal 4.3 - faster than some of the guys on the GTO forum run stock... hell, I only went 13.3 @ 106 on a stock LS2 (traction limited )
