New build

Well since destroying my last motor. Since this is gonna be a from scratch deal I figured I start a thread since nothing is stock anymore.

I'm still staying with the giggle juice for the power adder. And a turbo 350 to plant the power I figure since I have both of them back in my possession I'd start there.

Here are the pics of the TH-350 I just got back from ATI. They installed a ultra bell on it so no need for a flywheel shield. By doing this it also means a billet plate was installed to bolt the bell to which makes the trans a inch longer. Which means modding the converter by putting on a longer snout and making feet to take up the inch of spare room you'd have to pull the converter out if you didn't have them.

And just today I got the intake back from I-S. They installed and made custom fuel rails and bungs for the EFI. They installed and flowed a direct port dry nitrous setup. They also re-flowed the NX dry plate the previously done since they made all new lines to make the plate clear the fuel rails and dry fogger setup. Here are some pics of the new setup. Good for over 800 HP of dry nitrous goodness.

Re: New build

I'm drooling. That's a sweet looking th350 for sure. And I love that intake setup! I'm afraid to ask how much it cost to get done lol

Re: New build

Wasn't to bad since I paid for it at different times in a sense. Intake was 600. Cheapest I could find it. Got it from a guy off SY/TY board. Most guys won't sell them without the heads because first thing they do it mate them to a set of heads. This one was untouched still in box. Which is rare since this intake is no longer made. Plate I had already had. Was flowed last year and converted to dry with a new I-S solenoid and new lines and distribution block to take it from 4 jets to one jet was 625. And now welding in the injector bungs, welding in fogger bungs, 6 dry foggers, all the plubing 2 new I-S nitrous Solenoids and custom fuel rails and redoing the lines on the plate so it fit was 1400 bucks. Didn't charge me for redoing the plate. So technically I've spent around 2700 on intake and nitrous plumbing over the last season and some.

But it's pretty and I can tell you this. I was .2 faster on same size shot after flow and conversion then when the NX plate was right out the box.

That's about how much I was expecting it would cost. That's impressive you went two tenths quicker on the same shot. I bet you were stoked about that lol. Awesome looking setup though

Btw, would it be a good suggestion, that some of us Blowers/Bottles guys arrange to meet up some time next spring/summer at a track? Would be fun!

Re: New build

Hopefully have some pics Monday. My Cast Iron bowtie block is at the machine shop. Gotta get pan rail measurements for the new Stef's Aluminum pan. Factory 4.125 bore All steel caps 20 degree splayed center and dry sump rear cap. Not running a internal pump anymore going external wet so I can turn the vacuum pump up to around 18 to 20 PSI plus run a full windage tray. Block already has the deck plugs installed so just need to drill them to 3/8 for water flow. All studs are blind tapped so no water leaking issues like the stock blocks have were you gotta goo the shit out the end going in the block. V8 oiling the works.

Give me a little time and the empty hole will be filled with more plumbing for water nitrous and fuel then a plumber crack sees in a life time. Oh and a motor and trans to go with it.

Re: New build

My meth setup is custom by me. Bought the parts and set it how I want it. A ton of guys swear by http://www.alcoholinjectionsystems.com/ I'm running a 250 pump thats in the bed feeds the meth all the way to the front and I change nozzle size on how much juice. Was running a 375ML nozzle at the end. Will be going to 2 375 ML or 2 450ml nozzles or combo on th new setup.

Re: New build

Well got some pics of the block I'll post once i get them off my phone. Heads and intake are up at the shop getting port and polished. Told me he has one heads worth of intake side done. Flows 375 at .700 inches of lift. So I know he opened them up a lot. Its a waiting game now for the crank and rods. Told 8 to 10 weeks so should see them hopefully 2nd week of January. Pistons will be diamond nitrous set up for 4.125 bore. Once Stefs get back up and going since there located in Jersey there building the custom oil pan and dry sump tank for the truck. Wizard cooling is making the new radiator once I find the money tree since my BeCool rad got a hole punched in it when the head gasket went. Truck itself is pretty much completely stripped. Since I'm off today since its election day I'm gonna finish getting the dash out so I can work on getting a few things straitened out and get to work on putting in the new cage.

Pics of block for those that have not seen the differences between the factory and bowtie block. 9.25 deck Factory 4.125 bore V8 oiling all installed. Valley vents and a 12 An port will be added for the dry sump in the front of the valley.

Re: New build

Lookin good dude. Interested to see how this setup runs. Your last setup was impressive.
Might I suggest doing a couple small hits when trying an on kill setup to check the tuneup. It never seems to work out for anybody.

Ive got a bowtie block , bowtie version 2 heads , a hogans sheet metal intake, and all the other goodies that im gonna do a max effort turbo setup on . Probably be down the road a couple years. I gotta finish my current projects.

Good luck with the new combo.

Re: New build

Told 10 weeks total to cut and make everything. Figure first week of Janueary on crank. Week before Christmas for rods. Nothing really for the motor. Guy doing my heads are gonna talk to my machine shop about getting the block so he can CNC cut the O-ring groves and receivers to make everything perfect. The entire truck is now stripped. New cage came in Tuesday. Thinking of putting in the extra bars while I'm at it in the floor so the only thing after that is funny car hoop for 25.5 setup. Getting ready to put spare block with trans so new cross-member can be made and I can finish the measurements for the dry sump oil pan and tank.

Steve never ceases to amaze me… I could see picking that up on a wet setup, ok I understand that, but gaining that on a dry… The only thing he realy could have done is blueprint the noid and/or plate, if the jets and lines stayed the same. I wish I had a magic wand like that! Guess I’ll have to cough up the cash to have him work on my plate.

What size injectors are you running for that? How much bigger over an N/A setup do they usually have to be?

Nice project and good luck with it.

I'm running 83Lb injectors. Its usually 25Lbs extra per hundred HP then you tune from there.

Re: New build

Who's building your block again? Let me know if you really like their work. Seeing all this going on and getting my new garage done is making me itch to get working. Are bowtie block and heads still available? It's been a while since I've looked. If so, I'm going to have to figure out if I'm going to use my poncho heads or get rid of them and get bowtie. I know bowtie is cheaper than running 18 degree heads.

Can't wait to see how your setup comes out. This and a couple other threads are the only ones I follow here.

Re: New build

Two shops are doing my work. Fonse Performance out of Jersey is doing all porting and CNC work. Alderman Machine out of DE is handling the rest. Bowtie's are still made in aluminum. Both by GM and Browell Bell-housing is re-popping aluminum ones. GM run you 4+ grand from GM Browell around 2500 then about 2000 or better in the finishing custom machine work needed. There is a person on SYTY right now with a cast iron like mine for sale for 2 grand. I got mine from Jamie Hackings who races a seven second 275X syclone. It was one of his spares. All Bowtie heads that are available are 18 degrees. Only 23 left are Brodix Lil Brodies.

Awesome thanks for the info. Lil brodies are what was slipping my mind. I knew there was a 23 degree head out there. Are the lil brodies worth it? Man you've got to be pumped waiting for this to be done. Im curious to see what the meth nozzle config nets you between the setups.

Re: New build

They let you loose some weight. The -10s which is what I have run 2.08 1.60 valves and are moderate flow to .700 lift. Jr at fonse did a set of the less performance oriented -8s and got them to flow 335 at .650. He already has the intake on one head done all flowing at 375 on the intake. And when I talked to him last after he gets the other one done he's gonna check them to see if he can get 400 at .700 safely. Meth doesn't effect nitrous like it does boost. On nitrous it main goal is to cut heat. Head pipe EGTs without the meth was around 1975 2000 degrees on a 375ML nozzle cut the temps back to 1400 degrees at the head pipe. It also allows more timing in the process.
Yes I'd like to get it done. I'll have to get some pics of the truck in its current getting reconstruction state.

Re: New build

No I'll have to get some pics. Got the plasma running cutting plates to box the frame and start cutting and adding tubes. Hopefully should be getting heads and intake back Friday. I stopped for the night when I came in for dinner before I tried setting myself on fire again. Putting the mig away and pulling the tig out for welding the plates in. Mig just does not fit good between frame and cab and throws to much slag. Should have full frame boxed and main, halo, and front bars mocked by tomorrow unless my dentist beats me up at my 10:30 appointment.

Re: New build

Here are some construction pics. If everything goes as planned tomorrow or Sat I'll have some pics of a maze of tubing flowing both under and in the truck. Need to get the 6A,B,C bars/bars and 1 bar(SFI) in so I can get the cage mocked. Been weldinf in frame box plates and 1/8 in plates to rocker panel for bar attachment the past few day. Along with completely removing the rear factory body mounts both on frame and cab.

Yup everything is missing even the body mounts. Sorry no pics yet. Had a tool break so drilling strait holes through the frame is taking ten times longer because the tubing has to pass not only through but make it to the other side of the frame and pass through the other frame rail.

Re: New build

I don't have the heads or the chart there still at Fonse's. There -10 Brodix Lil Brodies. I know what he told me I'll see if he was playing with me or not when I go pick them up. Only thing I 100 % know is what they were out of the box which was 278/175 at .700. I saw him do a set of -8 and get 320 out of the intake side. If I get them at 320 not as impressive as what he said but is still one hell of a improvement.

Re: New build

Well that would be awesome if they flowed that big.
I just know that the best ported 18 deg. heads flow 380 on the intake.
I guess we'll see.

Looks like your getting as custom as Hacking on this build.

Well I told my head guy when I come get the heads I'll get the flow chart but had him send them to my cam guy Dave out out Crower so they could get to work on the new bump stick.

Here is the rough cam setting he sent me last night he'll send me the true cam card he said once he's done tweaking opening and closing timing.
Special order custom cam roller tappet.
Advertise duration intake 314° exhaust 328°
Duration at 050" 284° intake , exhaust 296°

Re: New build

Just a quick update. Crank and rods do to be here About March 8th unless something happens. Sending heads out Thursday to Crower so they can make the SS shaft mount full roller setup. With 1.8 intake 1.7 exhaust rocker ratio.

And here's what I been working on truck wise.
Main hoop , seat belt bar, halo, halo cross bar, and halo gusset bars all fully welded after being mocked and tacked in truck. Now just got to slide it back in threw front window to work on the rest
