dry shot...

i plan on spraying a dry 50 shot into a basically stock 4.3; my question is how far do i position the nozzle in front of the MAF sensor to get the best "readings" from the sensor? 6"? after i get all i can from this small shot i will rebuild the motor/tranny for a heavier wet shot (and i plan on dynotuning it before i really spray it at the track just fyi)

Re: dry shot...

Plan on replacing pistons too. Dry shot is a very bad idea with 4.3 on stock injection...very bad.

Re: dry shot...

how much can the stock injectors handle?

the main reason why im going with a dry shot was because i have a left over kit i had on my mustang and it's a dry system, but if it is a known problem that the stock 4.3 fuel system cant handle it i will upgrade to a wet system now instead of later

Search around, very well known problem. Just do a wet system.

Here's one just posted in this thread, post #21:

Like everyone said, don't run a dry shot or you will be piecing your motor back together. I am running a 125 wet on a stock motor and it takes it easy..but that is with some mods. You could get away with a 50-75 on a stock tune. Go grab you some NGK TR-6 plugs, a colder thermostat and have fun. Anything more than 50-75(75 would be pushing it imo) you would want colders plugs and a good tune(to pull timing an MSD digitial-6 ignition will pull timing for you if you go that route). I will make a little chart for you.

50-75shot
NGK TR-6 plugs
180- thermostat
91-93 octane gas

75-100
NGK TR6 plugs
180- thermostat
91-93 octane gas
good tune

100-150(150 is pushing the mechanical limits of a stock motor)
NGK TR7IX plugs
180- thermostat
91-93 octane gas
good tune

A fuel pressure safety switch may also be a good idea so you dont lean out. If I missed something, I am sure some of the other nitrous junkies will jump in and fill you in with what I missed

Re: dry shot...

Walbro Fuel pump with TR6 plugs gapped to .035 is what i would do. Should be able to take a 50 shot no problem. Wont need new pistons either.

And with s10ls pushing 20+psi on the stock motor daily a 150shot may not be as unsafe as thought before lol.

If my truck wasn't my daily, I would give the 150 shot a try . I just don't have the balls for it right now

Re: dry shot...

I wouldnt recommend it either jsut saying lol with some of the guys running the boost they are daily now it might not be as scary as once thought.

Alot of talk about running Meth/Alcky with nitrous with great success. Waiting to see some real hard facts because that would make @ least a 125shot undoubtedly safe.

Re: dry shot...

Can you point me toward some info on the meth/N2O combo?
