LS1 MAF with the integrated sensor?

The one I got from 02Vortech was duct taped in. Maybe that will work for you.

not sure if you still have cooling problems or not, but on my set-up I've always run an external oil cooler, and ls1 fan's with the a/c off i can sit and idle all day without overheating even in the hottest summer day's, i actually have 2 large pusher fans mounted in from of everything for when i run a/c in traffic and it helps alot.

This is what I was planning on doing, but I am thinking that is going to be considerably cheaper. Is that the same impedance as the factory GM one?

Re: Built 4.3 turbo underway Pics will talk

I'm confused on that post. I have no MAF, it began to give me issues and my speed density tune works fine. The iat sensor from msd part 2320 was
$19 and i bought an aluminum weld-on 3/8" female bung so i can use it in the same spot. I also ordered a set of comp engineering drag shocks. Next mod is rearend and oil cooler.

Is there an ideal oil temperature? I'm wondering if running too big of a cooler is going to hurt me in any way. I want to run a long narrow cooler under the rad support and create two ducts for fresh air. I want a large cooler because my turbo is only oil cooled

thanks yogi

Under 200 but what you got to keep in mind is that oil performs better at a constant temperature and not necessarily at a lower temperature.

Re: Built 4.3 turbo underway Pics will talk

hmmm well i guess i could run a oil cooler with a fan set to 180 degrees but i'm afraid that i'll run it too cool and if i run a long narrow cooler i won't have a fan to cool it. hmmm decisions decisions. I've been changing my oil every 2000miles or less cause i notice the synthetic start to breakdown,.
next mods drag shocks, iat, and looking at a 8.8 this weekend

230ish for dino oil. up to 260ish for syn oil. i would run an oil cooler for just the turbo. i have an oil cooler for my blower. and an oil temp gauge.

Yea, 200 is a little chilly, IMO. You need to get it hot enough to boil out the water and low boiling acids.

Re: Built 4.3 turbo underway Pics will talk

well i worked on her today, 2 good nights of cruising/racing lots of srt4's srt8's and i lost to a gt3 porsche turbo :-( only real loss of the night. I put on the skinnies up front, dropped the front sway and put in drag shocks today. Went for a cruise and now she misfires. IDK what the f it is. I'm thinking its definately ignition related.

symptoms
random misfire under light load, intermittent but shows lean spikes when misfiring.
plugs gapped at .026 and under boost she misfires like a machine gun, without boost she still misfires.

Cap and rotor? dizzy?

i don't think so, its been a intermittent problem for awile and i've just looked over all the wires. 2 days ago it was running perfect, then yesterday i changed the shocks did some work and now shes giving me a hard time. I didn't touch under the hood so idk. I will remove the dizzy and look at it and inspect the ignition wires for breaks.

Hook up a timing light and observe the light to see if you can isolate the misfire to a particular cylinder.

A good scanner will tell you specific missfire counts on each cylinder.

Re: Built 4.3 turbo underway Pics will talk

I think i will inspect the wires and dizzy, if nothing rong, then my best friends shop has a snap on scanner. I have not picked up any sort of detonation. 93 octane and whether i'm boosting or n/a she misses.

I dropped off the TB piece at the race fabrication shop today so they can weld in the 3/8" bung for the MsD IAT sensor.

and yogi i purchased autotap (datalogger) and was incredibly dissapointed with the program/software, umm yea really dissapointing. I might use the autotap piece but use a more user friendly program. Same goes for the tunercat booooo

My son has HP Tuners and logged my Blazer. Found that it was pulling 4 deg. of timing due to knock that I could not hear. I was thinking that you may have burned a valve or holed a piston and not know it. Of course, a compression test would show that, but logs would show why. Rat knows Tuner Cat pretty well.

what was the setup on ur blazer yogi? boosted? and was it hot boost? Unfortunately i have a 97 so i can't use the tuner friendly ls programs. I was really disapointed with the autotap and almost never use it. I have a scanguage which gives me kpa off the map and 10 other readouts

Mine is totally stock - n/a. We are just getting started on tuning.

I saw this thread on SyTy.net where a guy dropped a cylinder due to detonation that burned a valve and damaged the piston.

Re: Built 4.3 turbo underway Pics will talk

After removing the distributor rotor and cap still nothing. After hooking it up to a snap on scanner, 238 misses for cylinder one. The boot was burned up from the heat and the #1 plug is my access plug for checking plugs. So weak rubber and constant movement. I replaced the boot with a msd boot which is ten times better. I used 1" heat wrap and then high quality black shrink wrap to further insulate the wires from vibration and heat. See pic below

I still have a random intermittent part throttle miss. I'm starting to blame electronics. When i give her more throttle 60+kpa she starts backfiring, bucking bad. Its completely intermittent, and then she throws a code......EGR pintle location. I have no egr. so idk what to do, possibly plug in a egr and she if it changes. I'm going to replace my dizzy with a billet one $100 bucks off ebay. one of the screws does is stripped. I've swapped coils, ign mods, crank sensors. And its not a lean spot.

Other than that the truck is good, new windshield, new mirrors, Polished under the hood again, installed MSD iat sensor. Front drag shocks, dropped front swap bar, and put skinnies up front. The slicks for the rear don't fit (borrowed from my brother) So i am locating a 8.8 with disc rear to go in then put rubber out back.
