Big Turbo Threat

I went into a performance shop today to talk to them about a turbo set up on my 2.2 sonoma. All they had to say about it was how dumb of an idea it was. He said i could try to do it but i will go thorugh alot of heads. He said that the head on the 2.2 will crack with no proble. I was wondering if this was true or if anyone had heard about it. I had also heard that the 14G turbo is the best for the 2.2 and it bolts right on. I am not sure if this is true and was wondering if some one would help me figure things out. I have a 14g now for it. I just dont know where to go from here. I dont want to be changing out the head on my truck all the time. Thanks for the help.

Re: Big Turbo Threat

its not going to "bolt right on" plus i'm pretty sure the 2.2 is going to have the same injector problem as the 4.3

Re: Big Turbo Threat

What are the injector problems that the 4.3 has?

No, it doesnt just ''bolt on'' you will need a manafold and downpipe made.

Im not a tutu person myself, but i havent heard of any boost related cyl head problems before.

And no, the 2.2 and the 4.3 have completely different injection methods, aand you can buy better injectors for the 4cyl i do believe

Re: Big Turbo Threat

The older 2.2 has the side feed injectors, they suck, not very interchangeable. The heads on the 2.2l are prone to cracking. All in all its a poorly designed motor, and not thebest for boost. They are good to about 200 to the tires. If you desire more then that, move to a different platform as far as motors go.
