twin turbo = waist of time/money. unless you do it for show, then it would be cool.

Re: 4.3 twin turbo charged

Single-turbo setup is nice, and you could probably use some of the Sy/Ty components, but considering everything including the tuning you're talking major coin. Blower kits are availible from several manufacturers, they're also pretty simple and make decent power. If I were going for all-out bad-ass, I'd go turbo, but for value and reliability I'd get blown.

Twin turbo setups arent actually a waist.. Getting 2 smaller turbos rather than one big one. The smaller ones will make the same power and more and spool up quicker. Me and my buddy were bullshi**ing about that today actually... Just something to do. Try to twin turbo my 4.3

thats not always true, and is a broad generalization

I would stick with a single turbo, it'll work as well, easier, and cheaper

Re: 4.3 twin turbo charged

Not trying to argue but getting 2 smaller turbos and one larger turbo there wouldnt be that much price difference. Some more plumbing etc. I was looking into it to be more different than anything. Im just looking for something to do performance wise wether it be a supercharger, nitrous, LS1, Turbo whatever. And no offense to Mach Performance I love his stuff just a little too pricey for me. Rather Build my own with my buddies help. Alot cheaper Yeah no problem Xtreme Sy

Re: 4.3 twin turbo charged

My buddy has done two Gen3 swaps with turbos. One LS1 and the other 6.0... So hes familiar with turbos and making everything in house. He has an account with Turbonetics so hes going to call today. See how much the turbos would be. (2) T3's or something like that.

On a more serious note I believe there is a member on here who was in the process of building a twin setup he just hasn't been too active recently. It was s10ls does anyone know what's going on with that project?

We haven't heard much from him in a while. I think he said he was wiating on some parts and got distracted by a buell he bought. If I remember right. I saw a guy in the classifieds selling a rear mount twin turbo setup that he said he was using. There's some pics of the stuff. Nothing of it on the truck though. It looked like it was the real deal.

i'm still around, so is the TT truck.

a divorce, new GF, settling into a new place and a buell lightning have distracted me from the truck a bit but i am planning on starting back up on it soon.

all it needs is to have the engine management wired up, new brake lines run, elec fans hooked up, rear mount radiator plumbing finished and exhaust, plus a lot of tuning. this thing has A LOT if custom parts so it will need countless hours of tweaking/adjusting.

the bike is awesome and sounds beastly, but nothing beats the sound of a turbo spooling

Re: 4.3 twin turbo charged

those aren't RPM headers, they are a custom one-off set. the turbos are standard journal bearing Garrett's that should support 600+ together, although my truck wont be seeing that kind of power until i'm ready to blow it up again lol

As for twin turbos being useless have you seen that BMW motor its ****in bad ass... A little turbo that helps spool a big one so that when the little one runs out of wind the big one blows your nuts off.

Re: 4.3 twin turbo charged

This small yet punchy diesel from Bavaria uses two different-sized turbos deployed sequentially to dispense extra power right across the rev range. At lower revs, the small turbocharger works on its own to provide instantaneous throttle response, thus eliminating lag.
