well only thing you will notice is that on the ones with the precats you can weld it onto the precat but i just took it off.
Well only other problem is that on my 2002 sonoma the y pipe to the header holes on the retainers they are to small. i guess in 99 changed to bigger one cause it fits fine on my 1998. so i just drilled them out a little bigger and bolted up fine. now tomorrow gonna get a 2.5 pipe welded from the y pipe to the cat and set to go. should sound better and get up better since the precat is gone. well here are the pics btw- open exhaust is loud and at the light foot on the brake and hitting the gas sounds like i have a fat duration cam lol |

no i kept the original cat but took the precat out. i remember on my 98 ss when i did the y pipe it got so much deeper and louder.
so this one i have a 2 chamebred non delta with a 2.5 turn down sounds good and since i moved the muffler all the way under the bed it isnt loud inside the truck. if its loud now with this new set up ill just do a 2.5 over the axle and have it turned down after the rear axle |

slpeng.com
they are about 230 shipped and they have the bungs. they come with a flange to cause after i think 99 they started with dual cats and flange is no longer there. you can go to a shop see how much they charge you to do one or order it test it out see if it fits and if not send it back |

it works on 5 speed also just grind the shrouds on tranny.
guys THIS SOUNDS SO SWEET i got it welded up and you can ask NOT2LOW98 it sounds better than my ss. Deep idle not to loud and just man i cant explain it. worth the 200 bucks by far. but like i said if you want this set up make sure to have them move the muffler as far back as they can so you dont get the resonation into the cab. after i lower it it will be louder cause the turn down will be a lot closer to the ground. most likly ill just do a 2.5 bend over the axle and have it dumped after the axle tony |

headers are a waste of time. if running nos or blower yes but i wasnt impressed with the performance, but with the bottle yes pulled better.
the truck only has 1200 miles on it and have every bolt on cept headers, e fan and igntion which im not doing. im done with it only thing that has to be done is the 2 3 drop and the hidden hitch and assists bags in back to tow my ss. i was gonna go lower but forget it i dont feel like scraping and got my 98 ss for that btw i got my new rims boyd savages for my 98 ss. they come in tomorrow.. oh wait i mean umm some other rims not those lol heh heh |

me and you should race again so you can see the difference with y pipe and programmer. right now i have a prob going into 3rd gear the tranny just locks up the converter then it unlocks. so i took the hypertech programmer out and now it doesnt do it anymore. so i put it back in just to test again and its doing it again. i have to call hypertech and talk to them

Hey Tony,
Just wondering what size I should be looking at for the SLP y-pipe? 2.5"? I'll probally keep the pre-cat, and get some sort of cat back exhaust in 2.5" Thanks for any info. Jeremy |

its 2 1/4 2.5 is to much i feel on all motor apps. with the y pipe and take off the precat(you can put it bakc on for smog) and flomaster part number 42541 with a turn down sounds bad azz!! im going to run the pipe behind the rear axle this week though a little to loud fo rmy taste

What is the size of the pipe coming out of the manifolds on the SLP y-pipe? You told me before that blazers already have a bigger y-pipe but the one on my '01 is tiny. Its no where near the size of the stock y-pipe that came on my '93.

My Truck is doing something similar. When I punch it from a stop, she'll launch fine, but seems to bog at the 1-2 shift (its pretty early) just for a second, then its fine. Any ideas? It doesn't do it all the time though |
