pcv valve? annoying buzzing sound!

I have replaced my pcv valve multiple times and it still buzzes like a mother! do all s10s have a loud pcv valve? my truck is a 2000 s10 4.3L LS. When I have my truck in park at idle and I'm sitting in my cab it just buzzes away like there is a bee buzzing in my ear! Or when I stop at a light i can hear it buzz. It's really annoying! please help!

Re: pcv valve? annoying buzzing sound!

It certainly doesnt happen on all of them, but does seem
to be a somewhat common issue
If you're certain it's the PCV valve, try putting a restrictor
in the tube near where it attaches to the manifold.

This may eliminate the rattle tendency.
The restrictor can be a piece of rubber fuel hose, but oil
cooler hose would be preferable, due to its oil better
oil resistance, but fuel hose will suffice if it is inspected
regularly for deterioration.

Just make sure whatever you use fits snugly, and
can't be pulled into the intake manifold...

It's the pcv valve I know that for sure. I am not understanding what you are talking about here? you want me to put a tube inside the pcv valve tube? *confused*

Re: pcv valve? annoying buzzing sound!

Yes. To restrict maximum flow
through the PCV valve.
It should help dampen the
the valves tendency to rattle.

This has worked for me on a
few vehicles in the past.

Also try rerouting or padding
the throttle cable if it contacts
the PCV tube, as the cable tends
to help transmit the rattle noise
into the trucks cabin.

Re: pcv valve? annoying buzzing sound!

Mine started buzzing after I got a new one. Quite common. I re-adjusted it a bit more snug and it went away. Happend awhile later at start up then stopped. I'll just replace it if it happens again with Delco. wtf... No biggie.

Re: pcv valve? annoying buzzing sound!

It might, but IIRC, a couple of people in the past
on here have claimed their original did it as well.
But who knows...

I was going to buy a delco pcv but I never got around to it because I've been to busy trying to figure out my trucks vibration issue!

Re: pcv valve? annoying buzzing sound!

The buzz on mine went away when I replaced all the vacuum lines. I hasd some symptoms of a leak and just replaced all of them rather than try to find it. Costs less than $10.

Re: pcv valve? annoying buzzing sound!

This happened to me. I replaced my oem pcv valve with a frame which was a mistake. It rattled so horribly that it was all I could hear. I replaced it with a ac delco one and it was quite as ever. That's just what happened to me but it could be something.

Well My pcv valve was rattling like crazy for the longest time until I got back from a long road trip with my truck. I think if there is to much build up in the intake it will cause the pcv valve to make stupid noises because mine doesn't make any noise anymore and I didn't do anything to fix it. I think I burnt all the built up sh*t in my intake. We'll see if it starts making noise again and then I'll have to go out and order the ac delco one.

Re: pcv valve? annoying buzzing sound!

Sometimes the hard plastic pcv hose is touching the vacuum hose to the brake booster. This transfers pcv noise into the cab. I have fixed several by repositioning the hoses away from each other.

Use OEM PCV valves only. Aftermarket are garbage.

Re: pcv valve? annoying buzzing sound!

tried three different ones-- still buzzes--

you can pull valve cover side out and look in the bottom and see the little pieces just shaking round in there

the three all looked exactly alike--- GM, autozone, and napa

fu@#$$@ fail on quality

Do you think the one above, with no moving parts, would buzz?

Re: pcv valve? annoying buzzing sound!

probably not...if they made it anymore.

autozone has (supposedly) one similar, but they want 10$ shipping for the f-ing thing.

I said F-it and ran a long screw through one (of the three) I have -- locked that beotch in place, but still lets some air through

no more buzzing, and runs perfectly.
