Oil filler tube for 4.3.

I have a 1996 s10 with a 4.3 vortec, which I bought used. In order to add engine oil I have to remove the air filter tube because it is directly over the left valve cover oil cap. I bought an oil filler extention tube for that year but it doesn't fit,(not enough offset). Anyone have any ideas?

Re: Oil filler tube for 4.3.

Can you move it over to the other valve cover ? Or maybe switch
valve covers left to right ? I know the one on my 92 is on the
r/r.
Oh and welcome to the site.

Remove the air filter tube going from the back of the intake to the right side valve cover, insert breather filter in cover and block off the port on the back of the throttle body hat. You can see the small filter on the valve cover in this pic of my engine bay I got it from autozone.

Great question, I have no F'ing idea let me go measure it!

EDIT: The "nipple" on the bottom of the filter that fits into the valve cover is about 3/4" diameter.

I had no idea there was so much stuff sitting on top and
around the engine on later models. No wonder it's a chore
to get to certain things.

Haha yup the most annoying is the harness that runs from the fuse block across the entire engine.

I think your best bet would probably be a junkyard, otherwise maybe Auto Parts Fast at RockAuto or ebay.

, it can be a pain when doing an intake manifold gasket, but I tied it out of the way the best I could.

That whole thing is getting moved under the dash on my 2003. Way too much wires and stuff under the hood.

Oh I know it, the best thing I found is to just unbolt the plug from the bottom of the fuse block and then you can pull the entire thing over to the right and out of your way. That's what I did when I removed and reinstalled my engine.
