Re: my new "Wait4me performance" PCM...

I was taking a look at the Wait4MePerformance website and they say you can send them your wiring harness and computer to be modified. Does anyone know off hand if they'd be able to modify my harness to work with my '91 4.3 going into my '96 Sonoma? I'll be giving them a call tomorrow to find out for sure.

I was thinking the same thing. just shut it off completly. I don't think I have to worry about it at inspection time b/c they only read the codes no dyno.

Re: my new "Wait4me performance" PCM...

If you keep your trucks oil and gas clean then i don't see much of an improvement of taking the egr off. But you can plate it up if you want.

Re: my new "Wait4me performance" PCM...

yeah i don't need to dyno my truck either, thats why i was thinking of getting rid of the egr.plus a lot of people that i talk to say that the egr is a problem with the newer trucks(95 and up).just figured i would solve the problem before it happens.

somebody done this,any thoughts ?

I think the EGR becomes a problem in all vehicles after a certain amount of time, no matter how clean you keep your gas and oil.

Re: my new "Wait4me performance" PCM...

today i overnighted my PCM to W4M. I have been in contact with them via email but so far I have not been able to get them on the phone. Hope all goes well. It says on their website that they can occasionally do same day service... so I am crossing my fingers that they call me tomorrow when they get it and are able to overnight it back to me. If so, I will post my before/after dyno numbers to coincide with my baseline dyno thread I started here: http://www.s10forum.com/forum/f107/b...03-zr2-309285/

Re: my new "Wait4me performance" PCM...

Ive been e-mailing Jesse/Hannah at W4M for a couple days. They have been very informative and quick to reply. I asked about the TM on a manual, and they said there wasnt any. But studying the JET programmers real-time data info, the timing gets cut on shifts. The more the throttle is open the more it cuts. Im to the point mod-wise, that a custom tune from them will be best for me. I trust their judgement and will be doing one soon.

Re: my new "Wait4me performance" PCM...

got my PCM back today and put it in.

my perspective is warped since I have been driving my car daily for the last few days, and its lightyears faster than this truck will ever be. But I personally cannot feel the difference right now. Perhaps its hard to differentiate between painfully slow and really slow without hard numbers.

Right now I am trying to decide if I feel like driving to work today to put it on the dyno and see what it did, or if I want to just wait until tomorrow.

Re: my new "Wait4me performance" PCM...

OK, at the shop now just finished strapping it down. Gonna smoke one and let it cool off for a minute.

After driving the truck more I am convinced that the off idle power to at least 2500rpm is better... the truck takes off much better from stop lights and doesn't SEEM like it takes as much throttle to keep it going. Its still possible its all in my head, but I want to describe what I think I feel as the truck feels lighter, less like someone dropped anchor and im dragging it down the road.

I am not so sure if it feels any faster at full throttle and higher RPM. We will find out in about 15 min for sure. I will post the results when I get home in a couple hours. Peace

Re: my new "Wait4me performance" PCM...

OK... gonna let it cool down more. The first run was about 5rwhp gain thru the entire powerband. During the shifts, with the torque management and line pressure adjustments he made, the gains are 50rwhp during those shifting spikes.

The speed limiter is gone, I took it up to 125mph and even on the dyno with no wind resistance that was really pushing the truck. Pretty sad, hahaha.

That first run got the truck super hot and the next run was terrible cause of the heat. I have 30 min till everyone is leaving here, so I am gonna let it cool down that entire time and see if I cant get a better pull. Ill put up the graphs later.

While so far the power isnt making me too excited, the way the truck drives is still well worth the $$$ in improvement. When I lay out the graph by TIME in seconds rather than engine speed or wheel speed, I can see that its reaching speeds quicker, I will post that evidence tonight as well.

What are your actual dyno numbers? And what were they B4? Actual picture of the graph is best if you could please. THX Oh, RU a X or W VIN?

s-10hater, sorry for the delayed response, but by all means, have him remove the EGR code, then disconnect and/or remove the EGR if you like.

Re: my new "Wait4me performance" PCM...

i never measure it, but i am almost positive my MPG has gone up a bit. I drive a ton, and always noticed how poor my mileage was. The last few tanks I look at the gauge and its always up a little more than i expected.

I am still glad I got it. You can feel the difference during part throttle driving. Full throttle isnt a noticably quicker aside from the more aggressive shifts.

i just bought a cam, so after i swap that in and dyno again i may or may not have to send this PCM back to have the shift points raised, depending on if the cam is still in its powerband when it shifts at this stock shift point.

they can raise the shift points, right?

i have a feeling that after i put in my HD2 shift kit, and with the torque management adjustments W4M did, this baby is gonna really slam gears hard under full throttle. im pumped. I dont do auto trans, so i gotta make the appointment for shift kit install in the next week or two.

If you get a cam, I would get it updated for that definately. Never mind the shif points, just the new cam profile probably could benefit from a tune

Re: my new "Wait4me performance" PCM...

Just to add my .02 worth, I have been driving on my newly tuned PCM from W4M now for two weeks, and I can definitely tell a huge difference. I have a CAI, Flowbastard cat back, electric fans, shift kit, an Explorer 8.8 (w/ 3.73's) and 20x10 rear wheels with 285/30 Nitto's. With the old 7.625" axle and 255/35 Falkens on the rear, I could bake the tires off. After the axle swap and new tires, I couldn't even spin them off the line. I was also having a massive bogging problem shifting into 2nd. Then of course, the stupid ass top-end governor. Now, I am getting a couple of miles per gallon better mileage, no bogging, and no speed limiter. Also, it will spin the tires off the line again. I am super happy with the new tune, and would reccommend it to anyone. BTW, I am an x-Hypercrap owner too. This is much better.

your results sound much more dramatic than mine. i only wish i still had a stock PCM laying around so I could do before/after dyno tests with the W4M after I install other modifications. I wouldnt be surprised if its gains are 2-3 times what I got out of it when you put it on a mod'd truck. (mine was otherwise 100% stock!)

i emailed him about my sonoma. hopefully getting a nice tune done and re-flashing my pcm will get my 4l60E outta "limp mode" and gain me a few extra ponies. I have my stock pcm and another outta an 01 blazer 2wd, it had the harness I used to replace mine that got fried in the sonoma. I do have 1st and 4th, but it's in limp mode.

Nah you didn't get lucky its about 1:1000 chance that it would be right on. it just works. Most people don't have any issues with it while a few do. Best to get it do imo. But Dealers can sometime charge a ton for a 5 min job.

Re: my new "Wait4me performance" PCM...

my buddy is a gm tech "Mr goodwrench lol"
and he sad you need to do a crank re-learn even if it runs fine
it may be off just a little to were you can't feel it but it may rob you of some hp or mpg and is not good for the motor
most small shops would not get you to bad for doing it

i just talked to hannah. she was really cool and helped me with all my questions. looks like i'm gonna be getting one of these. if you have it tuned to run on 93 octane can you still use 87? i don't think i would but i am just curious.

My guess is that if it's tuned for 93, it's gonna knock on anything lower than that.
