my 2002 s10 wont start

all it wants to do is crank and crank but it wont start unless i pour gas in the intake and then it will fire right up and stay running until i shut it off and then if i try to start it again it will just crank but wont start, it has new cap and rotor and new map senor any ideas would be great

Check fuel pressure. Get a gauge from local parts store if you dont have one. They rent em. Should be at 60 psi to start i believe. If its not it could be a weak or bad pump. Id start with that first. Post FP results when done. Good luck.

i will check the fp when i get a chance to and no the check egine light isnt on i had a friend check for codes there was none

Engine light won't come on with the pump. I went through 3 pumps on mine. Then I put a Delco back in and no more problems. It had an aftermarket, I replaced it with 2 aftermarkets. They would work good for a while, then the pressure would drop off. None of mine lasted that long though. You could start it with gas down the TB, but it would only run a few minutes. think the longest was 20min. Put the new factory pump in and has been running strong for 2 years.
