F$%#$ Smog Check Fail

I have a 1996 Chevy S10 4X4 Blazer stock.

I cleared my codes trying to pass smog. I did it a couple of times. The same codes kept coming back. FAILED SMOG. My reader is telling me code P0134 = No activity Det Bank 1 Sensor 1. P0700 = Transmission Control System. and P1192 = PD unidentified.

The Tech at the Smog shop said change out O2 sensor before Cat. There is Three before Cat. One on drivers side, One before Y, and One before Cat. Then One behind Cat. How do you tell which one is bad. Then he said change out Cat TOO.

At $75 dollars apiece for O2 sensor's I'm trying to figure out which one out of three to change out.

Or could it be something else?

Thank's Kirk

So when you get a nail in one tire, so you tell the shop to put a patch on all four?

To the OP
Bank one sensor one is the drivers side closest to the motor

Re: F$%#$ Smog Check Fail

www.getgmparts.com is pretty reasonable for O2's and other fuel management parts.

Re: F$%#$ Smog Check Fail

^ what he said. If the wires running to that sensor are in good shape and not burned through or torn then replace the sensor. If the cat was bad you would get a p0420 probably but you arent so dont listen to super tech at the smog station. The P0700 and p1192 are not valid codes for your truck. (I think, what scanner are you using?)

(what he said meaning post #4. I typed this at 6 this morning and didnt send it till just now)

The bank 1 sensor 1 sensor is the one on your cylinder 1 side down pipe. The sensors for our vehicles are simple to get to the pig tails are actually worse to get undone then the 02 sensors.

the p0134 and p0700 is but not the p1192.

these kinds of discrepencies are why the testing in ohio was stopped. the people at the tests facilities were failing cars for no real reasons. because they don't know what they are looking at etc. such as a transmission code making a car fail the smog test.

here's a site with a pretty good complete list of codes.
