Edelbrock carb woes

I am still attempting to tune this Edelbrock 500 to fit my slightly modified 89 4.3 Blaze and just can't seem to get thing to run perfectly... Here's the thing... It runs alright.. withs stock jets and by just leaning out it alittle with fuel metering rods, I get her to run even better... Problem is that when you romp on the pedal as they do in inspection.. I get a puff of smoke out the exhaust which by no means will inspection.. To me this is a serious thing when they send your ass back through the line of inspection that takes nearly an hour eacj time to go through... I need opinions here on how to keep this baby from smoking on rev ups.. any suggestions? DO you suppose it might need to be leaned out more? Or could it be bad vales guide seals maybe?? My older full sized P up with the 350 TBI used to do it as well... I need this baby clean....HELP!!

What color is the smoke? White or blue would be an oil problem. Black would be excess fuel.

Yogi.. I sent you a pm concerning where I am witth these jets and metering rods... what do you think about going leaner? according ot this chart I have,,, I am at stage 1 lean with #.086 jets Primary and fuel metering rods both at 067x055" ,, Orange springs, and secondary jets still at .095.. should I go leaner by changing out jets on both primary and seconday's now and maybe again different fuel metering rods? Maybe go down to stage 2 Lean postion?

Re: Edelbrock carb woes

No body knows anything about tuning a 5oo Edelbrock for a 4.3? It's basically a stocker with a slight cam and intake...
