what gives?
allright I have an 85 4x4 "durango" that was working fine all up untill last night. it hardly blows enough heat to defrost the window! now it blows a fair about when I put it on max, but thats because it takes the air from inside the cab. is there a vent hole outside that could be plugged or what? the truck is covered in slush... if there is an outside vent that could be plugged where is it? when I got from defrost to max the dash makes this creeking noise like something is jammed up in there. ideas please? its like -12 out I need some dam heat! I'm off to the carwash to try and blast some of this slushy ice off...

Re: what gives?
Are you getting hot air in any of the other vent positions?
the vent controls are controlled by a vacuum operated switch. i would start by checking that.if you are having no heat in any position i would suspect bad heatercore. how does your temp guage sit? is it sitting lower then normal? if you are having a fluctuating needle i would start by changing the thermostat. |

Re: what gives?
it gives the most heat in the max postition, I figured it was because it was just so dam cold out it could heat the air from outside, so i busted the door so it takes the air from inside and that still doesnt seem to take care of the problem. I;m going to try flushing the system....

Re: what gives?
If your thermostat isn't stuck open, remove both lines from the heater core and flush it from both directions with a garden hose. If you can get one of those "twist" style sprayers, they work the best because you can insert it into the hoses to blast the heater core with max pressure. Top off with antifreeze and you should be ok unless there is something else going on. HTH's

Re: what gives?
I had a problem were the heater heat was just moving air. Check your Thermostat. Easy to do.
