Water Pump Leaking Coolant I think

So I have to refill my coolant reservoir like twice a week, it's going through allot of coolant. It looks like it's leaking a little from the upper radiator hose to radiator connection....but most of it from behind the water pump pulley.

Are these hard/expensive to replace? Is there any other common places to look for leaks? It's an 84 s10 blazer w/ a 3.4l 2bbl carb.

Is there a telltale hole in the pump? (this hole leaks fluid when the water pump seal is gone)

Couldn't really find the weep hole, the pulley's in the way. Could it be leaking from the block or something, is there a common spot by that area?

I had this same problem. I replaced the water pump and it still leaked. Ended up being the timing chain cover gasket. Replaced that and no more leaky leaky. Either way not hard items to replace. Patience, with it and keep track of what bolt you pull out of what hole on the water pump. Different lengths......

Cool thanks for the heads up, I'll try to check a little better, but it'll probably be hard since the pulleys/belts are in the way. Is there a diy write-up anywhere for either of those replacements on the 2.8l or 3.4l?

Re: Water Pump Leaking Coolant I think

I used a Chiltons book. Everything bolts right off the front. Without huge issues. It's a little tight but manageable. I have NO idea if there is a "How-to" on it. Good Luck
