V6 owners.. need your opinion

So, I have a 95 2.2L S10 that I'm giving up on. I recently replaced the heater core, and can't get it going again. I'm tired of messing with it, and looking for something reliable. I would love to get another S10 (98 or newer) just for the simple fact that I bought a house last year, and will be hauling things like sheet rock and such for different improvement projects. I hear that the V6 S10 is the way to go, but never driven one. My dilema is this.. On top of whatever hauling I do, this truck will also be a daily, and I drive 52 miles (one way) to get to work. So, obviously, I want something that's good on gas, and I know the 2.2's get high 20's/gal. What does the V6 get?

cliffs: Have a 2.2, thinking of replacing with a 3.4.. long drive to work, need to know what gas mileage you get.

3.4 was not available in the S-series, but is a popular swap, especially when the truck originally had a 2.8.

the 2.8 was not offered after 1994, the only V6 that was offered after that was the 4.3.

Personally I don't really care for the 4.3, it always feels laboured, and most people I know that own one complain about the milage.

my 2.8 gets about 25-28 hwy. thats with 240,000miles without a rebuild
