Timing Chain replacement

I changed my intake gaskets, and valve cover gaskets over the weekend. and while restabbing the dizzy we moved the crank back and forth to try and get it to drop, and we noticed the timing chain was loose. What all is needed to do in order to replaced the chain? Do I need to raise the motor? pull the motor? I was told I may also need to pull the front clip. is this true? thanks in advance for any help.
