Re: oil pan removal

i thing i would be easier to pull the engine to replace the pan gasket. if you keep the engine in the truck youd have to unbolt the engine mounts and body mounts and jack the engine up about 10 inches.

Re: oil pan removal

not to mention scraping off all that freaking cork gasket.
a 2.8 2wd except for the drivers middle bell bolt is an easy motor to pull.

Be sure to remove at least the distibutor cap first for the extra clearance or you will crush it.

Yea but would you rather scrape cork off a engine already jacked up off the frame, or do the following so that you can do it under a engine hoist (or stand if you want even more work):

-drain coolant
-discharge A/C
-Fck with damn Y pipe
-leak fuel & possibly break lines
-probably break old shit like coolant hoses, vac line, etc.

Shit the only benefit is you don't have to drain the oil.

And yes you can remove/install the pan on a 2wd... sometimes loosening body bolts is necessary but theres not many. Also remove distributer all the way and put rag down hole.

I Am Not Sure If I Broke Any Of Those Hoses, But I Know I Ended Up Replacing All My Fuel Lines After Completing This Job.
