Question No fuel???

OkI got one for ya. I have a 1991 sonoma thats not getting any fuel to the throttle body, but I cant figure out why. When I unhook the fuel filter located on the right side of the block and just hold it up and crank it fuel flows great, but when I hook it to the aluminum pipe going to the throttle body no fuel comes out. And yes The aluminum pipe is clean as a whistle. I have no Idea but maybe that the pump cant push it up the line??? HELP...!!!

Re: No fuel???

Ok I'm on the same page you are now. I have fuel getting to the throttle body But I don't think it's getting into the TB. You seem to know more about it than me so when you figure your problem out please post how you fixed I am a newb when it comes to these. Thank you.

Re: No fuel???

im really leaning towards a wire or something going to my ecu. i have already replaced the ecu and it did nothing to cure it. if i start to wiggles all of the wires around, it will start. i just have not figured out exactly which wire it could be

Re: No fuel???

i had another fuel pump laying around and i hooked it up and still nothing, unless that one is bad too... because i had it running one day, ran for bout 5 mins and i cut it off. i hooked all my lights back up and went back the next day, and nothing. could the fuel pump go out that fast?

Re: No fuel???

A couple of ways you can find out is take the pipe that comes from the fuel filter off the TB and crank for about ten seconds, and if nothing comes out you could check and make sure the pipe is clean. but if fuel doesn't come out you might wanna get someone to crank it for you and lay underneath the truck and unhook the fuel line from the fuel filter hold it in the up position and see if it flows out pretty good and if it does. Than its prolly your fuel filter. or it could simply be a fuse> IDK

Re: No fuel???

if you want to know if it is the pump, unhook the back side of the filter and just turn the truck on. the pump should try to prime itself and if it does it will spray fuel all over. mine has to be wiring because i too get really good flow to the tb

Re: No fuel???

You guys need to try the NOID lite, available for rent at alot of parts stores, it plugs into the injector plug (injector unplugged) it flashes as the injector should be firing, if light is flashing and injector does not spray fuel then you may have a bad injector, since you are getting fuel to the TB suspect the injector is not firing due to either a bad injector or bad drive to injector (could be a bad ground could be a break in the line to the injector, could be a bad injector fuse, you need to check all this since you have Fuel Pressure.)

Was mainly directing that at rodman, I had read that you did use the light, must be a connection issue somewhere, have you tried a DMM to check grounds back to battery - ? Use one end on battery - post and use other end to probe the grounds, block, etc to see if you get a 0v voltage drop, anything much greater than 0 and you got a bad ground to that part, If I remember the schematic correctly the injectors have Battery + delivered to one side thru an ECM/IGNITION HOT AT ALL TIMES 10Amp Fuse and that would be on the Red wire on one injector White on the other, the ECM then grounds the other 2 wires to activate the injectors on the Dark Green and Dark Blue wires going back to the ECM, you might be able to use a test light on the last two colored wires at the ecm (light hooked to + as ecm will ground) to see if it is pulsing there, if it is good and strong at ECM need to work way thru fire wall with the test light and back to injector bank to see where your bad connections are at, if no pulse at ECM, suspect bad Injector driver in ECM and time for Replacement ECM.

Re: No fuel???

also check the 12v at the injector when cranking to make sure that there is not a bad connection associated with the B+ feed to the injectors (might read 12v no injector firing, but will drop to 5vdc because of a bad connection on fuse block or something when firing.) Can use a test light at injector also, red/white side light clip to ground, Blue/Green side light clip to B+

Re: No fuel???

i just got done checking mine, i got power to the red and white wire and i hooked up the test light to the power and checked for ground and when cranking, nothing happens
