Gas smell, poor gas milage.

Was really busy once I got my truck running again. Thought I'd have enough money to get that dang Throttle cable installed by now, but no such luck.

Just when I thought I'd have enough money, I was laid off from work. I had mentioned before that I'm only getting 9mpg's! I can't take that with what little money I do have! One thing I have noticed is there's a very strong smell of gas from then engine area. I've checked, since I did have the fuel filter changed back in March, but I don't see any leaks. It's so bad at times while sitting in traffic, I'm afraid to light a cigarette!

Suggestions?

Thanks

Jax

More info and people can help. What year is the s10?

No $ to get a throttle cable put in?...do it yourself then.

Re: Gas smell, poor gas milage.

Look at all the fuel lines, pressure regulator, and all the fittings. There is probably a leak for it to smell that strong. Look while it's running and use common sense for safety.

When I had that problem I searched through all my fuel lines and could find nothing. Went under the truck to check the lines running from the tank and found instead that I had a pinhole leak in the tank itself.
