Re: exhaust manifold bolt size

Into the head are 8mm, IIRC, 1.5 thread pitch, no idea only length of the stock bolts though, since I used a different length in my application.

Re: exhaust manifold bolt size

raven got it. 8X1.5

im swapping headers on to fix my cracked manifold, so length really doesnt matter too much.

while you have yors off, if you could double check that trhread size, it would be greatly appreciated.

Re: exhaust manifold bolt size

if you go by the parts store, they have a little gauge that you thread the bolt into that tells you the size and pitch of the threads.

im really in no hurry, im doing exhaust next weekend or the weekend after.

Re: exhaust manifold bolt size

not sure when that will be, but Ill keep it in mind. You plan on replacing the manifolds with the engine in the vehicle? Hope you dont break any bolts. One of mine broke and I had to drill it out. It was easy with the engine on a stand. Cant imagine attempting to do that in the engine bay. Not fun at all.

Re: exhaust manifold bolt size

Went to Lowes today and picked up the following bolts which DO work

M8-1.25 x 40 (8 of these. These are the shorter bolts for the 4 corners of each manifold)

M8-1.25 x 60 (4 of these. If you can find bolts that are 70mm long, get those instead. I was unable to find them. The 60mm barely fits, but I think it will be good enough)

Dont forget to get the proper washers for the bolts.

Hope this helps!

Re: exhaust manifold bolt size

I don't know if this is good practice or not, but I put a little antisieze on the threads to try and prevent some rusting otherwise it seems like I always snap one taking them out.

Re: exhaust manifold bolt size

I dont see why that would be a problem, as long as the bolts dont loosen

Re: exhaust manifold bolt size

OK I lied. The 60mm Bolts definitely do NOT work. You have to find 70mm. Looks like im going to try home depot, and if that doesnt work, NAPA. Napa usually has all the bolts, but they are pricey!.
