Edelbrock Valve covers

http://www.edelbrock.com/automotive_...c_chrome.shtml

(part number 4488)

has anyone used these on their TBI 2.8L? They say that they have the stock-style breather baffles and PCV valve holes included. If you click on the part number in the link above, it shows the picture of exactly what they look like. Obviously they arent the exact same as the OEM covers. The passenger side should have a second hole for the PCV valve towards the rear of the cover. The edelbrock cover only has the oil fill hole towards the front.

Those of you who have used these, how did you resolve this issue? Did you just drill a hole and add a grommit?

I dont even remember what that tube is for on the drivers side. Is that just a breather of some kind?

Re: Edelbrock Valve covers

I understand that part. I want to know if you drilled a third hole since there are 3 in the OEM covers (one for the oil fill cap, one for the PCV valve, and one for a tube on the drivers valve cover that I cant remember what its for).

Re: Edelbrock Valve covers

its for the air cleaner. eliminate the factory air cleaner and no need for the plastic tube. and plus if you look at the pic above you can see the breather filter is in the exact location of the stock plastic tube for the air cleaner so I wouldn't worry about drilling holes in the valve cover for a tube that isn't needed.

Re: Edelbrock Valve covers

i see in the pic you have the breather filter and the filler cap. So where is the PCV valve? is that not needed either?

I cant imagine this info is correct since the PCV valve connects to the TBI. If it isnt needed, then what do you do with the TBI? Cap it?

Re: Edelbrock Valve covers

I have those on my 2.8. They were fitted when I bought it. The driver's side hose is connected normally though using a terrible-fitting grommet. It stays in but it's not elegant. The PCV hose goes into the hole towards the front on the passenger side using a grommet that lets you yank the pipe to top up the oil.

My truck has the chrome Edelbrock air filter too but it's been modded to use the original breather thing too.

Re: Edelbrock Valve covers

I guess I am just over thinking this (along with many other things along the way on this project). Im not sure why I was concerned with needing a filler cap.
