distributor question

recently replaced dist. cap rotor now i notice that i can grab top of cap and the shaft i guess it is wiggles back and forth possible cant be tight or dist shot anyone help thanks

You need to tighten the hold-down clamp. The timing is probably altered now, so you'll need a light to re-set it.

Its the only bolt back there at the base of the dizzy, you won't hardly be able to see anything with your hand back there. One of those things you just got to feel for it.

I use a 6" extension and a swivel to tighten my distributor bolt.

I want to change my computerized distributor that is in the car now but I want the old points type distributor and coil a non-computerized one. I hate the computer system, with all of the wiring I thought I wasnt going to find the end of all of that wiring. and I am changing to a carb setup can anyone help me find a non electronic computerized distributor and what vehicle and year that I can find it.

GM hasn't used points since '75. Get an HEI for a carbed 2.8 '85 and earlier.
