Hello, what is the way to replace the starter in 2.8l engine (s-10 1989) ? Remowe exhaust or somethin else ?

After you remove the two bolts, just drop the back of the starter down and the front will follow. Keep your shims if you have any and be sure to disconnect the battery BEFORE you try and drop it.

Yeah, its a pain in the butt, you could loosen the crossmember if you have to. I did that on mine to get a little extra room.

I was able to change mine with just a ton of wiggling and cursing....

What inspection plate first off? Would that be a skidplate on a 4wd? Or something my 1984 and 1985 have been missing since day one?
I never had to unbolt anything other than the 2 starter bolts and undo the wires?!? |

He is referring to the torque converter inspection plate on the bottom of the transmission. You HAVE to remove it to drop the trans so that you can remove the three torque converter to driveplate bolts.

I never had to do that and I've got an Auto.. all I had to do was take out the two starter bolts and disconnect the wires...
