Check Engine Light

Question for you guys, my CEL comes on sometimes, but goes back off after a few seconds. Does this computer "store" codes so I can pull them? Or do I have to pull them while the light is on?

Oh yeah, 1992, 2.8, 5sp, 209k on the ticker, runs like a swiss watch, burns no oil, but leaks it EVERYWHERE! *lol*

Re: Check Engine Light

It'll store them until the battery is unhooked or the ecm fuse is pulled.

Or just fix it, have it run correct, get the correct gas mileage, and have it pass emissions (if you have them).

Kewl! Knew I could count on ya, neo! Thanx a bunch!

No emissions here, but I wanna get it fixed, because that CEL means something ain't right somewhere.

Re: Check Engine Light

I had an '84 auto/2.8 that would flash the CEL occasionally. The problem was some missing insulation on the oxy sensor line near the frame. At a certain speed, the slipstream in that area would push the wire against the frame and ground out.

i took it in to the dealership and my truck was misfiring so that maybe a issue im not sure if u can have a general read cause when they read mine they were able to tell me how many miles ago and what speed i was going when it happened
