CARB to TBI Conversion, now wont stay running

Well as the title states, i have an 85 s10 that came with the rochester 2bbl carb and after i dissembled the upper half of my engine to change some gaskets and whatnot. it wouldn't start. Not knowing how to rebuild a carb i decieded it would be smart to convert my truck to TBI. I had a parts truck (that was an 88) and i stripped everything out of it to put on my bagged truck. I got it all connected and it starts but then dies. the parts truck did start until i started the tbi unit on fire a couple times. i replaced the injector wires with the whole new harness but not the injectors. i dont know if i should prob just try that as well cuz im sure fire cant be to healthy for them. but aside from that any other ideas where i messed up. i gotta get my truck going again cuz i didn't have it out al summer and im having withdrawls.

There's others here with conciderably more experience then I. But if it were me, I'd "work the problem". It won't start...okay. But what is it doing when you turn the key? Can you hear the starter trying to engage? Is it trying to turn over at all? If so, is there spark at the plugs? Are the injectors spaying any fuel? Have you tested the coil, distro module, alt?

Did you change the fuel pump? Carb's fuel pumps don't put out as much pressure as TBI pumps do.

yeah i changed the pump. i did that before. its not that it doesnt start. it starts then just dies right away. i dont know if it may be something to do with the dist i mean im sure its out of time but its hard to time it without it running. maybe dist is 1880 degrees off but will it start then??

Tried to reply to your PM but can't, I get this error.

"Scrapin'85 has chosen not to receive private messages or may not be allowed to receive private messages. Therefore you may not send your message to him/her."

In any case that would be great, just let me know.

As I hate to "learn/screwup" on my good carb.
