Re: best carb?

I like the Holley 390 with the Edelbrock intake that I have on my 84. Big performance upgrade from stock, and not much more $ than a stock replacement.

Re: best carb?

No, no reason it should "go on" - the best carb is the one that fits, works, and is tuned and built properly.

I prefer the orig, rebuilt Rochester 2se/e2se. Not a power choice but they run well for daily driving/some hauling and can be rebuilt and tuned for maximum economy (and it bolts right on without work).

i'm personally not a fan of the Holley options for these trucks, nor much for the webers but they will provide some more beef.

check out guaranteedcarbs.com for some good pricing.

Re: best carb?

Best carb depends on the mods done to the motor first. Not a big fan of holleys myself on anything but race motors. Never tried the webers so I have no clue. Even still why do you think you need to upgrade the carb?

Re: best carb?

I have two webers, one's on an edelbrock set-up the other on stock motor. Love them, they are a little tricky to set up (read directions carefully) - thats because even thought its a two barrel carb it's really two one barrel (two mixture screws). The weber 38 DGES would be my choice for power and gas mileage. Also you retain stock air cleaner.

Re: best carb?

Joed and I will never agree on carbs, but I totally respect his opinion! I still like the Holley on the truck. It certainly raises eyebrows whenever somebody looks at it that knows anything about S-10s. I really got frustrated with the factory carb, but my truck had other issues besides the carb at the time.

Joed probably has a good point though. His truck is a daily driver, and mine sits around the house a lot. (Mainly cause the mains knock a little when you first start it and I don't have time to rebuild it....now 260K)! Simplicity wise, the factory is probably best for reliability. However, if you want some juice.?.?...?

Does that mean my edelbrock 1406 is two 2 barrels?
