Another oil question?
Well winter is rolling around and i'm due for an oil change. My dad has a friend that tells him it is bad to run synthetic oil in this "old" of an engine. Is there any truth to this? I don't think it could be true...(considering it's BEEN running synthetic...). How about this high-end amsoil stuff? I read on the forum that amsoil 0W-30 made someones truck run better...so I was considering cashing in on some of that stuff and maybe a K&N oil filter.
So I guess my question is, is it ok to run 100% synthetic 0W-30 amsoil in this truck? 177k miles |

Re: Another oil question?
The only problem I've had with synthetic is that doesn't swell up the seals as much as regular oil, so I had a few very small leaks.

Re: Another oil question?
That is a good source of info on oil.
Your dad's friend remembers when synthetics were first released, they did have some problems like he described, but chemical advances have solved all those problems long ago. You can switch to synthetic anytime and back again if you want, with no ill effects. |

Re: Another oil question?
Cool. I think i am going to abandon the amsoil idea cause i cannot find it at any parts stores...im thinkin ill just go with royal purple and a k&n oil filter. Thanks for the link btw!
