2.8 replacement

hello folks new to this site and was wondering about a engine swap .i have a 87 s-10 4x4 2.8 with about 260k on the clock .contacted the gm goodwrench engine depot about the 3.4 replacement they have .they informed me that it wouldnt work on the tbi models is this so?where can i get a new 3.4 to replace the 2.8 ?all the salvage yards around here dont have one .thanks for any info you can give

The crate 3.4 will work in a newer truck equipped with TBI, you just have no warrenty when you use it in a TBI application.

Check salvage yards for a 3.4 from '93 to '95 Fbody. This is basically the same long block that you would buy from GM, but can be had for much cheaper.

will the 93-95 3.4 bolt up without having to change anything heads/ intake etc?

The intake will need to be swapped to the S-series TBI intake, but dimentionally the 3.4 long block is the same dimentions as the 2.8, so it bolts right in.

im gonna hijack kinda...

If one were to want to buy a BRAND NEW CRATE HT3.4 where would that person go?..

ive been looking on ebay, checking PnP, craigslist, EVERYWHERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

somewhere on this site theres a couple websites you can find them for like $1500 i think??? maybe almost $2000. but you get money back when you send in your core

i found one a my local gm dealer for $2059.00 comes with a 24 mth 50 k mile warranty and its brand new not rebuilt.The old truck belonged to my dad and when he passed away i got it and have redone everything but the engine and now its about time to do it .
