82tener is on a distinguished road
2.8 questions/conversions

I suppose I'm going to fix up my 82 s10 w/ a 2.8.
Since the heater hose somehow started rubbing the a/c belt, and I couldn't see a way of re routing it, I cut the belt. I would like to convert it to a serpentine system, and I feel like it would solve the problem.

Anyone ever done this? Is it logical? Or is there a much more simpler fix?
It's no show truck, just a decent little everyday truck.

Also for some reason during left turns it stalls out if I'm not accelerating. I already had the carb rebuilt. I was thinking of buying a new one. Anyone know where I can get a good one for cheap? Thanks for any help.

For the belts you gotta swap out the front cover and everything, even water pump. Not sure if you can swap pulleys on the rest of the stuff and the rotation stays right. Kepping the rotation right is the main thing cause with serp setups the belt spins them backwards compared to the v-belts.


No help with the carb, sorry.

It would be much less work to find out why the hose was rubbing,I think some of those earlier s10 had a strap holding the hose in position.

why doesnt the key turn backwards for the accessory setting?
