2.8 question.

hey guys got a questiion for ya. On the drivers side up towards the front of the engine bay i see most of you guys have a big black plastic ball with a teed vac line goin into it. On mine someone just plugged the line and removed the ball. Whats the ball for? Do i need it?

Re: 2.8 question.

it helps store vacuum. You can run without it but the heater and ac controls, 4wd if you have it, and anything else vacuum operated might be a bit slower.

Re: 2.8 question.

I always wondered what that stupid thing was for. What do you mean by a little bit slower, like it'll take a little longer for it to engage when you flick the switch?

Re: 2.8 question.

There isn't any flicking of switch's with these. Haha. Everything is vacuum operated. The ball stores vacuum to quickly switch the HVAC controls. Without the ball, the engine has to pull vacuum which will take longer to do than just having it stored in ball ready to go.

Re: 2.8 question.

Nah, I just meant, when you flick the heater / AC switch. I understand, thanks.
