Vin 5 head casting number

Hi
does anyone know what the head casting number is for 2001 2.2 S10 with the vin number of 5...mine blew the head gasket to the point where compression gasses will blow coolant out the radiator if the cap is off, just like its overheating when cold...I want to get a rebuilt head and do the whole job in one day instead of sending the current head out to be redone

thanks any help is appreciated

I don't know what the Vin 5 casting number is, but you can look for the Vin 4 also because they have the same heads. The only difference between the 4 and the 5 is that 5 means flex fuel. but the heads are still the same.

You just need to get a head with the same casting number. The number is located under the valve cover around the valve springs.

Re: Vin 5 head casting number

As was said pull your valve cover and look at the casting number.
Anyone you order it from will tell you to do so. The Vin is not a 100% accurate method of determining what casting you have. As i learned when i ordered my head. The guy looked it up by my vin and it said one thing then he told me to verify it on the head and it turned out being the other head.
