Yeah I was wondering the same thing. Man it sounds like metal on metal...hurt my ears. However, I'm glad that you got it all connected and running. Now time to turn up the boost!

i've read that recycling w/g will take out a small sum of performance.

Re: turbo build begins!!!

yea im gonna route it..it wont effect to much performance at low boost i dont think...and its plain open..i think if i get a longer tube it would sound better but i basicaly just wanted to get it running and the engine used to the new addition... if im easying into boost its starts it hink around 26-2800 but at wot right around 3000 seems to spool pretty descent! im not turning it up any till i get it tuned and bigger injectors...im taking no chances with this as its a daily driver basicaly right now till i get a beater for winter! was gonna get some vids tday but it rained all day and tomorrow i think it is again!

You have any close up pictures of your p/s remote mount reservoir, and maybe a list of what you used, I'm planning on doing the same for my turbo setup.

haha hells yea u can feel a big difference....even on only 4 lbs of boost if u dont wanna make a fast truck its nice to be able to pass someone and not wait 4 seconds before u go anywhere and have to have the pedal mashed to the floor, i can eas into the pedal and watch the speedo just rise nicely now!!! its def nice to have, and ALSO GREAT MPG increase....i drove around alot and got great increase in mpg without getting into boost all the time..

Re: turbo build begins!!!

Hey looks pretty good man, sorry it was a little high it's kinda hard to cram the stage 2 headers in there normally... much less with the divided flange collector. Especially when I don't have the actual turbo and wastegate at the shop! Looks great though!

Re: turbo build begins!!!

looking good! good burn out also! do you have any traction bars or anything? I know your is an xtreme so your suspension is a bit different than mine. I cant do a standing burnout for the fact I have way to much wheel hop, but im hoping my caltracs will stop that lol.

Re: turbo build begins!!!

originally bought a jdm cheap turbo off ebay...didnt know any better at the time, but they are junk...had shaft play within the first 3 weeks and started hitting the compressor housing, so i ordered stronger better internals, bearings, seals, etc..basicaly a garret t3 rebuild kit and seems to be doing alot better now, blades wernt damaged so there was no need for a rebalance... Thanks!! hoping to get my detroit tru trac soon so i can pull both wheels right away right now its mainly one wheel burnout then the other gradually catches...lol but still badass though!!!

Re: turbo build begins!!!

Not sure it looks like it could have clearance issues with the compressor. But it could be worked to make fit.

Re: turbo build begins!!!

It's impossible to fit the turbo and A/C there... you'd have to have a huge cowl induction hood to tuck it in or run it in front the engine like our kits or cs extreme does.

Re: turbo build begins!!!

Hey Thomas, you may already know but you should really relocate that air filter from out behind the radiator... your probably running 170+ degree intake air temperatures.

I've yet to hook up my intake temp gauge, but i didnt think it would make much difference with an intercooler.

Re: turbo build begins!!!

It makes a huge difference, especially on higher boost levels, at the very least the higher intake temperatures will cause detonation/pre-ignition. Worst case scenerio can be melted pistons... The intercooler helps but you don't want to make it do more than it has to. If you have a thermostat on your electric fan you are a little better off but if you have an on/off switch it will blow constant 170+ degree air straight into the intake.

Re: turbo build begins!!!

looks good, my only criticism is; relocate the inlet filter to the turbo so it looks cleaner, and that waste gate is GIGANTIC, but good job relocating none the less. very nice, you did it the right way.. no cheap build.

Pretty cool build man. I just got a 2003 block+head out of a truck that only had 23,xxx miles on it. Just tore it down tonight it's getting ready to be sent to the machine shop for full forged internals and then its boost time haha
