Towing Capacity

I have a 2001 s10 4 banger. Does anyone know how much the truck can tow with in reason. I looked on the chevy site and it said with the extended cab and the 410 rear it could tow 3000lbs. That seems a little far fetched to me. I have a 18'6" boat that I want to pull. Do you think it could handle it?

Probably....if you were going down hill the whole time
Check your owners manual or your door jam tag..will probably tell you there too. You'd probably have better luck towing your truck with your boat

thanks for the reply. I figured that. Even in the owners manual it says 3000 lbs. I still wouldn't believe it unless I have seen or heard some people do it. The boat is only 1700lbs, but I don't know. Thanks.
