no its not, if u do it how ur supposed to, like having all the emissions crap for the motor, its like any other motor. I just went through inspection/emmissions and they just asked if it was a vette or camaro lt1 in mine. Thats all. If u have all the emissions crap, u should be fine. Its when u delete stuff thats when its a pain.

Re: Top 5 Reasons Against Doing a V-8 Swap

To each his own. But with the introduction of the gen 3's things have changed. I went through all the trouble and wallet raping to swap a 5.3 from an 05 yukon into my s10 and I can clearly see why many people wouldnt want to mess with it. My truck was down for almost 7 months and it took my full effort and attention to make everything work properly. After actually doing it I realized it's just alot more work than most people are willing to do. But I will say it was worth it. Rediculous power, and even with bolt ons, cam, custom tune, and 3.73's it does much better on gas than my dads stock 4.3. I don't think there is any mechanical advantage to the 2.2 at all unless you are comparing it to a regular 350 which is a gas guzzler no matter what. But other than that it's pretty much the owners tastes and needs that decide it. Im sure the 2.2 is a good reliable engine for thousands of people in the u.s. and it gets the job done just fine.

Re: Top 5 Reasons Against Doing a V-8 Swap

It does seem to be a catch 22; the 2.2 folks want more power and the 4.3 folks want better gas mileage.Yes- a V8 swap is a HUGE undertaking, especially to do properly- without cutting corners all over but it's a beautiful thing. But bak to the original theme of the thread- appreciate the tu- tu for what it is, a gas miser and you;ll be happy.............
