Well, I don't know.. my owners manual calls for 4.5 w/filter.

& My Chiltons says 4 w/filter..

And when new I put in 4.5 & ran it, checked level next day & it was OVERFULL.

So been using 4 qts w/ filter ever since.. & No dents in my oil pan either..

It's a kunundrum fer sure ...

I recommend Lucas synthetic engine oil when im at work.... Yes, they do make actual oil.

It sells for the same price as Mobil 1.

I get Mobil 1 thru a friend at just above cost. So I'm sticking to it..

I ran Pennzoil full Synthetic 5w20 the first time I changed the oil. I love it, but I am still Happier with Mobil 1 0W20 synthetic.

Quite a corrosive oil, along with some other issues I've seen. I'd pass on it for sure.

This should be the right info:

Engine, with filter..........4.6 quarts
Cooling System, Initial Fill..........12.0 quarts
Automatic Transmission, 4 spd 4L60-E..........11.0 quarts
Manual Transmission, NV1500..........5.7 pints
Manual Transmission, NV3500..........4.2 pints

I have a 01 2500hd chevy with a 6.0 in it with 260k on it and im getting ready to switch to synthetic oil but what do you guy think is the best and do you think it's to late to switch with the miles it has on it?

Here is the synthetic's that im lookin at
Royal purple
valvoline
mobile 1
penzoil
castrol(?)

And I drive about 500 miles a week doing this im hoping to go more than 6 weeks before a change lol.
